God is one -said great emperor
God is power. God is great. God is one.
Ramesh goes to the temple.
James goes to the church.
Surjet Singh goes to the Gurudwara.
Abdullah goes to the Mosque.
Those are just different forms, names and ways of praying to the same God. God is one Supreme Being. He is truth and faith power.
We all are the children of the same God. It does not matter how and where we pray. However, it is very important to respect each other’s religion.
Do you all not enjoy playing Holi, celebrating Diwali, eating the sweet delicacies of Id, enjoy the Christmas cake? Peaceful co-existence means the recognition of diversity and tolerance for the same. All the various forms of God teach us love, compassion and brotherhood.
Emperor’s dilemma
Akbar, the Mughal emperor, was a Muslim and prayed to Allah. Birbal, a Hindu religion was a minister in his court. He went to the temple and offered prayers to the Hindu Gods.
Birbal was a very intelligent and witty person. Emperor Akbar was very fond of him and always discussed with him whatever intrigued him.
One day emperor Akbar asked Birbal, `Minister, why is it that I pray to Allah, you pray to your Gods - Srimad Narayan, Sri Ram , Hara Shiva Mahadev, Jai Vinayak., the Buddhists pray to Buddha Bhagavan?’
Minister Birbal replied, `your majesty, these names are different but there is only God.’
Emperor Akbar could not understand this. He said, `well, I do not agree with that. How can there be so many forms and still be one?’
Emperor Akbar thought for a moment. He then called one of his servants who were wearing a turban. He asked him to take it off and tie it around its waist. `Now what does it become?’ asked Minister Birbal.
`Now it has become a girdle,’ replied the servant.
Minister Birbal against asked him to tie the cloth below his waist.
`Now, what has it become?’ he asked. `Now it has become a loin cloth,’ the servant said.
Minister thanked the servant for his cooperation. He now turned to Emperor Akbar and said, `Your Majesty, you just saw that a single piece of cloth when worn differently, on almighty. It is we, who call him by different names-be it Ram, Shiva, Allah, Jesus Christ, Guru Gobind Singh. In reality, He is one.’ Emperor Akbar was now smiling with admiration as he now understood the oneness of God.
