Once there was a little boy named Bhasir. Bhasir was a kind and shrewd boy. He loved his grandfather dearly. They were great friends. Bhasir’s grandfather told him many interesting stories. Bhasir’s mother was a good woman. But she did not understand how lonely the grandfather was. Sometimes she shouted at him kindly. His would shake out of fear.

One day, as the old man was drinking his tea, his cup fell down and broke into many pieces. Bhasir’s mother shouted at him; ``you are a careless man. You are not fit to live with us’’. Grandfather felt very sad. He went into the kitchen and ate his food all by himself. Bhasir felt sad. He could see tears in his grandfather’s eyes, but he was helpless. As time passed by, the grandfather became weaker and weaker. One night, his hands shook so much that he dropped his bowl of rice. The bowl broke into many pieces and the grandfather was scared.

Bhasir was unhappy when his mother and father scolded the man. ``no more dishes for grandfather’’ said Bhasir’s mother. ``From now on, I shall give him a wooden bowl. Shall eat his food from that’’. Bhasir heard this and become angry. He started carving a wooden bowl. When his mother saw this, she asked him, ``what are you doing?’’

``I am making a wooden bowl. When you become old, I will give it to you. Father can have grandfather’s bowl’’ said Bhasir. His mother and father were shocked to hear this. They felt ashamed of what they had done. Bhasir’s mother then took his grandfather to the dining room. She served him his food lovingly. From that day onwards, grandfather never ate alone. Bhasir was so happy. He was glad that his mother and father realized their mistake and they learnt that loving kindness brings lasting happiness.
