Environment-A gift of god to the mankind
Introduction
Save environment, save the world. We all are very fortunate to be living human beings on the planet "Earth" and are blessed with the gift of God in the form of natural environment. An environment consists of all the living and non living things on our planet earth. The other environment is the environment built by human being for their needs.
Disturbances of the enviroment
We all are enjoying the nature and utilization of available resources without keping in mind the needs of future generation. The natural environment is being polluted more by humans than the environmental causes like ecological imbalances. A day will come when most of the scarce resources will come to an end, and our planet 'earth' will start dying. There are many environmental issues facing our world today like increased industrialization and urbanization and exploitation of resources without caring about the environmental impacts. The changes urbanization has caused to the water regime in water sheds and how this land use has resulted sedimentation, nutrients, input of contaminants, and fragmentation of habitats. It is also disturbed due to the increase level of heavy metals and acidity in surface water that results from mining. In addition to releasing gases and particles into the atmosphere, humans produce waste that is dumped on the environment. Often, this waste is hazardous and dangerous to both nature and human life. Every year major health problems results from the hazardous waste. The natural environment is being polluted which has resulted in environmental problems like air, water and land pollution, Global Warming, climate change and Land Degradation.
Importance of ocean
If I were given a year to improve the earth's environment I would focus o one issue the world faces today, it is our dependence on water. Because soon this problem will be too much for us to handle and by then it will be too late. Life on Earth without water is simply unthinkable. The ocean is vital to life on earth. Ocean is the life blood of planet Earth and humankind. They flow over nearly three quarters of our planet, and holds 97% of planets water. Rock strata beneath the ocean floor are an important source of petroleum and natural gas.the ocean plays an important role in the water cycle, the constant movement of water from the atmosphere to the earth's surface and back. From the life-giving rain that nourishes crops, to life saving medicines, from the fish that comes from the ocean floor, to the goods that are transported on the sea's surface-the ocean plays a role in our life in some way everyday. But these oceans are being polluted which affects every nation around the world. Sewage, sludge, toxic pollutants and even garbage all are dumped into the water. Water is very precious so we must not throw any such things into the water.
Government measure
Although Government of India and other countries are very much concerned and doing a lot of work for protection of the environment, yet it is the duty of everyone to contribute in cleaning and protecting the environment. A number of laws and international agreement ban or restrict the disposal of various pollutants into the ocean.Government has banned the plastics bags and started planting trees in various places and started recycling the garbage. The World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5th June by the environmentalists, and the government, to fight the environmental challenges for finding solutions to protect the environment. So we must inspire the people to care for the precious gift of God by protecting the environment.
Way forward
- By protecting biodiversity and ecosyatems upon which all human and other life on earth depends.
- Using clean and green technologies in industries with future goals of zero pollution and recycling the resources.
- Sustainable use of scarce resources such as water, land, oil and minerals and reducing Green House Gases (GHG) emissions to fight global warming.
- Spread Environmental Education and adopt Environment friendly lifestyle.
Conclusion
Environment problem is very dangerous problem our society and our country are facing. It should be checked. Recently the burn of the crops by the farmers of Punjab led to the serious environment pollution. It is the duty of the citizens also to check this and be very careful of not harming our environment any way.
