Group C in this Fifa World cup 2014 is one of the most competitive groups with having no clear favourites to reach in the final 16. Group c consists of Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast and Japan. Looking at the recent performances of world cup qualifiers Colombia does look promising to reach in the final 16 as they finished second behind the Argentina by just two points. Though, all the eyes are on the star striker Radamel Falcao, carrying an injury, on whether he would be able to play in the tournament or not. Irrespective of he plays or not, the Colombian team looks solid in defence, having the likes of Luis Perea and Mario Yepes. Attack also boasts of the midfielder James Rodriguez and Tio Gutierrez, who is having a great sync with Falcao. So, it would be interesting to see them play.

Moving to the Asian Champions, Japan will be confident under the Italian Coach Zaccheroni to enter in the final 16. Japan has an excellent chance with the emergence of Keisuke Honda into an International star. There will be Shinji Kagawa of Man U and Shinji Okazaki, who finished top scorer in the continental finals. As we saw two very good teams set to move into the second round here are another two teams, starting with the African Power house, Ivory Coast. They have immense star power in the forms of Didier Drogba (Galatasaray), Yaya Toure (Manchester City), Gervinho (AS Roma), and Kolo Toure (Liverpool) in their team. Now, looking at the reputation of these players, they can top the group and even pose challenge to the giants in the knock outs. So, the ‘Les Elephants’ can cause few upsets if they move into the final 16.

Now, the final team of Group C we will talk about is Greece. The 2004 Euro Cup Champions will face tough challenges from the rest. They will have to rely heavily on their defence play. Though, it is unlikely to not concede goals against the likes of Drogba, Falcao, Yaya Toure and Honda. So, it will be interesting to see the European team, behind the non European teams, play as underdogs of the group. They certainly can grow under the influence of the captain Giorgos Karagounis. Two spirited performance can lead them into the second round. So, it is an open contest between these teams.
