The Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her desire to see next prime minister from Uttar pradesh. We have a parliamentary democratic system that provides for appointment of leader of majority alliance as prime minister. Thus Prime minister may be from any state. Is mamata Banerjee a responsible leader in saying that next P.M. will be from U.P. Even if so, why Rahul Gandhi and why not Maya vati. Is it not the time leaders like mamata banerjee learn democratic spirit. Her uttrances fan regionalism in no way worse than shiva Sena.

With all her honesty and some other qualities, I must say she is prone to irresponsible behaviour at times. She is given to a lot of histrionics and populism. When she was hinting at a possibility like that I am sure, she had Rahul Gandhi at the back of her mind. Indian democracy is a fledgeling one unlike the United States of America which has mature a democracy. I am not against anyone becoming Prime Minister but promotion of a particular family is against all democratic norms and practices. Scanning our rich past we had great persons who struggled their way up, made tremendous sacrifices and charmed the masses with their charishmatic selfless perosnalities to be finally accepted as leaders. But the centuries of feudal rule still guide our choice of leaders. We need to change our mindsets. What do the other members think?

What is this ? This is a democratic country, so every body can talk/express their views but those matters should. But if some one in higher posts like mamatha talks like this this is very bad .

This regional requirments and thoughts will destroy the unity of country.PM should be an able man who ever be it.

Democratic functioning requires that all act in wider national interests in constitutional manner without personality cult. Some people raise slogans of faith only in Nehru Gandhi family. The people elect members of parliament and they in turn elect their leader, who is Prime Minister. This is contitutional and democractic way.

In a democratic country, everyone has right to become prime minister. Its their wish to become or not. But i think Mamata Banarjee has not much background to become prime minister. Becuase she is not having much support. She can do the post well. But she is not having much support.

I think next time also Congress will win in elections and again Manmohan Singh will be the prime minister. Congress is doing well in Central.

Rakesh- Whether man Mohan singh or some one else becomes next Prime Minister is not important. What is important is that there should be no dynastic, regional, religious or gender bias. We as voters elect members of parliament. Prime minister is elected by members of majoity party or alliance. This is important. Mamata banerjee says that next PM should be from U.P. This is apparently undemocratic.
