Visiting holy places to yield result...... Do you really believe so?

The home where I stay right now is just close to a Vishnu temple. Just one home away. A beautiful banyan tree in the distant eye sight and a holy atmosphere. It's not a difficult task to visit this temple once or twice a day. Yet I rarely go to temple to pray, because I feel, what am talking/praying to him...he can hear it even if I do so where ever I am, at home or somewhere else. But I have seen a lot of neighbours around me who visit temple regularly. So, is it true attending holy places like temples, churches and mosques can yield more results than praying at home or workplace?

But one thing.....I can't deny the fact....If you go to pray to a holy place in a silent and less crowded atmosphere, it definitely lifts your mind spiritually. But I am not sure, if you visit holy places regularly it gives more positive results......

Everyone has a different mindset. It might be possible that your neighbours who visit the temple frequently may have Vishnu as their main god ( ishtdev). Perhaps the atmosphere produced in the temple is attractive to those neighbours. You and several people like you and me ofcourse, believe in god like all others and we feel that we can contact god like our friend anywhere at anytime but at the same time other people like your neighbours are believers of show-off tradition. Basically it is better to do whatever you desire at your convenience and do not question it. I mean whether you go to temple or not if you have belief in god it means you just have to trust him. It does not matters whether you are talking to him in the temple or in your heart, mind and soul. Also it is said that he knows everything. Honestly I feel god is my friend, a role-model like the parents so,  I just talk to him whenever and wherever I want.

Sandhya Rani let me add one more thing..... Both positive n negative energies do exist in this world. definitely all holy places....may be temple, mosque or church...they carry some sort of positive energy. Thats why we never think about violence or hurting anyone while inside temple or any other holy place....... Such a positive energy can be obtained from any other place....a dawn break..... a water stream with tender voice ,,,,,a pleasant fragrance of a rose flower or anything else - Sandhya Rani - 8 years ago

Yes, i am very religious person and feel that if you visit some places, it do affect us. What i feel is that there is some fear in our mind and when we go to any religious and ask for something, because we really want that and we indirectly or directly start working or putting our efforts to achieve that something we want.

By visiting temple we get satisfaction by our self because in reality we are not like some person due to his behavior etc.. But god is a statue which never ask any question from us and we simply worship and get satisfaction by seeing the face of God.Normally people are fall in attractive people likewise in temples the way god's face decorated is attracted by us and we get the satisfaction by seeing that face.

Visiting holy places to offer prayers, money, sweets and other things to the God will not get you any positive results. In fact it is one of the most hypocritical things about our culture. Instead of that doing things that will help our society, our country, our environment around us will get more positive results than anything we do in temples.

Prayer is just a matter of personal routine. This does not help you any way. I vist a temple only as a tourist. So after seing a temple once or twice, I never visit again. Your performance in your job and relation with others matter. So, I may visit a temple to accompany relatives and friends. A few days back, some relative came to me. So I accompanied him to places like Taj mahal, Agra Fort and also to a few famous temples at Vrindavan and Mathura.

There is a saying that faith moves mountains ! People get mental satisfaction when they visit a holy place even though it is only symbolic.I have seen old women walking up the steps of Tirupathy temple out of sheer determination and feel better later on.This may be due to many other factors but they feel it is because they have been blessed by the diety...I like the serene atmosphere of the temples in my town most of which has lush greenery around them which is not all that crowded during week days and I visit often just for the calming effect it has ...

I do not think visiting holy places can yield a result. your actions/deeds yield a result.

Let me start answering you with the famous old Hindi movie “Dil Ek Mandir Hai" .It means your heart itself is a temple. A temple invariably has a deity.
It’s mere madness to go far of places in search of God, which is in the core of your heart. It will not be out of context to quote of Saraha to drive home my Point.
”Within my body are all the sacred places of the world, and the most profound pilgrimage I can ever make is within my own body.”
Saraha.
So, there is no truth in the belief that visiting holy places will yield extra results.

Visiting holy places and praying will not give any positive result. It will just spiritually energize you due to the serene atmosphere. Your prayers are heard by your own Self; but not by any third person, called God. Your own subconscious mind acts on it and create the right circumstances to yield the result.

Honestly I only like to go temple when there is no crowd. How can people pray properly when they have to stand in line for the same.

Yes, there is not necessary to go to temple for praying god. What I think is if one have pray heartily from anywhere to GOD then it should be enough. God will hear that voice loud and clear.

Yes it does, I often visit holy places although not for religious purpose. However, it's a wonderful feeling watching people coming to lovely destination and enjoy their lives in the lap of Mother Nature. I have visited almost all the top religious places in India even if I did not enter the main Pooja spots of the temples (Including Kamakhya, Meenakshi, Triputi Balaji). But I enjoyed the architectural beauty of the places.

My connection with God is very different from others, I mean not that typical one. I have faith in Him but on a routine basis, I can't do anything. I pray to Him according to my convenience and I don't go to temples to satisfy God and get blessings but I visit temples whenever possible to thank Him for all His blessings. If anything bothers me and I am unable to share with anyone else then I fight with Him, I show all my dissatisfaction and grudge then I become calm. This does not break my trust but it somehow strengthens my bond because when my troubles end, I automatically thank Him though earlier I blamed Him only for all the pain.
