Music is very relieving and hence, musical therapy is used fot relieving stress and reducing depression.

Personally I prefer to hear light music especially the flute and sitar instrumental music. I feel very soothing when it comes to hear and play piano tunes.

I like old Hindi, Marathi songs, Urdu ghazals as well as Hindustani classical music. I also like western classical and soft rock a lot! Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Sudhir Phadke, Pandit Jeetendra Abhisheki, Kishori Amonkar, Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Begum Akhtar are my favorites.

Melody should be the central part of an instrumental music composition or a a vocal song. I love Such music. Language is no bar. serene and soothing qualities in a musical composition drag me towards such music.

I like instrumental and classical melodies. Though people like different kinds of music it is entirely depends upon the mood of the person while listening the music. If he is in sorrow he will like to hear that kind of songs and if he is in joy he will listen enthusiastic songs. It purely depends on the mood.

I am fond of ghazals by Jagjit Singh, Mehendi Hasan and Ghulam Ali in particular but any good ghazal draws my attention. Hindi light music as well as Bengali songs from Rabindro Sangeet to old Bengali movie songs and any other Bengali song which has meaningful lyrics with good rendition.
