The basics of stock market begins from the history of "Indian Financial System". You can go through the books written by M.Y, Khan. I remember one book which I have studied in graduation, written by him is "The Indian Financial System".

There are not many but you can read them mostly in newspapers as most analyst share their views about market in their columns. Try Economical Times for experts' reports.

I do not know much about the authors who write on this topic but there are a few links which if you study well and follow carefully, will help you understand the stock market.

If you do a google search, you will be able to find really good blogs on this subject, the authors of which make it a point to update it continuously so it will be better to study such websites instead of only looking through books. I hope these links help.

I suggest 'Profitable Investment in shares- a beginner's guide' by S.S. Grewal and Navjot Grewal published by Visions Book. This book would be available with leading book sellers or railway book stalls.

One can learn the basics of trading through these books but Stock markets have a mind of their own and one can never predict which direction it would take and why? Even an experienced invetsor van get caught at times...
