They may be myth. But they are the classics of highest degree as far as literary values are concerned. In addition to this, through those well delineated characters by those respective writers a plethora of morals are directed to the society with the noble intention of spreading good.
I do not know about others. But I for one, respect these mythologies only for the above cited reasons.

"Mythology" and "Myth", well it's just a play upon words. I won't go into a lot of details, but they say, a woman is called a woman, because she has a womb. It is just threading the words together and bringing out something new. There is "ram" in "Akram". Some other examples are "Geeta", "Quran" and "Bible" are all 5 letter words so there is unity amongst the names but why not between the people? It is pure observation. The same, in my opinion, can be used in the case of your question.

Gulshan Kumar Ajmani This is not observation or play with words. In fact, Mythology is derived from 'myth'. Kindly see the link:

It could be mere myth but deep rooted beliefs do not allow us to separate us from them. maybe they help us keep to right track and deviate from chosen paths our ancestors selected for us. I am not a vary religious type and have trust in Mother Nature but do not want to go against popular beliefs of people having faith in these matters.
