Why kids are attracted to animal fiction stories most?

I really want to tell my daughter stories of Rajas, Panchatantra, Epics etc....

But she is interested in stories of animals only. I think all kids are so, they want to remain in the fantasy world where animals talk and behave like human beings. What could be the reason?

Children who are familiar with human beings only in real life will amazed and astonished to see a talking Donkey. A monkey that files from places to another in the stories they read about in the story books like Aesop's fables, Panchatantra etc. This feature ties the children to the story books related to animals and birds.

Animals are different from human beings. They are colourful and attractive. Many animals are cute and friendly. Hence, therefore children prefer animals more.

I don't think all children think alike, my 17 month old likes watching cartoons where human beings are involved such as Motu Patlu..But am still to reach the stage where I can narrate stories to her ..but what I do is show her animals and name it like cow, dog, horse, birds...which just fascinates her.

Best children stories are on animals and fairies. Panchtantra is also a collection of moral stories through animal characters. Fantasy is something unusual. Children see human in daily life. So stories on fairies, gods, demons, animals attract more.

Everyone has seen humans talk and walk and sit and stand and do all the actions. However, animals are a breed apart that are hardly seen in any of the human actions, especially talking and laughing. That is why when animals are personified, little kids get attracted easily. But with age, they lose the interest as well.

Animals come in a variety of colours, shapes etc and that is what endears them to children more since they have an inherent curiosity for every moving thing around them. They see humans around them most of the time, especially their adult parents and other relatives who try to control children, so they are attracted more naturally by animals that can make them laugh, do funny tricks etc.

I guess kids are naturally attracted by what nature created and we can see them perking up even when they are in a bad mood, the moment we take them out and start showing round - the sky, trees ,birds, a dog, hen or a cow ! So we have to keep that interest alive since it makes them develop Emotional empathy which helps them in later life...everything else they learn later on without much effort !

Most children today get to see animated stories on TV which they find interesting and fascinating. As far Panchtantra stories are concerned, I thought most of them are taught through animals and perhaps best examples of moral boosting ones. At least I grew reading Panchtantra only.
