What's the percentage of Indian people who believe in politics right now?

As far as I know, people are going far away from politics, particularly youth. People have stopped believing that political leaders can make great reforms for the country. Now it's the election time. News heard everywhere is related to elections and votes. According to you, what percentage of Indian citizens (above 18) do firmly believe in politics and cast their votes seriously?

I am not really sure whether you mean all Indians above the age 18 or just the young voters who are going to vote for the first or second time. But one thing is certain, most people especially the educated and corporate lot, such as young people working in IT, multinational banks, etc. do not take elections seriously. I am certain because election day most of these people get holidays and they go off on a vacation on that day. And I have not heard of any vacation resorts having the facility of polling booths!

Going by the percentage of votes cast in the first stage of elections we see that iyt has increased enormously , which goes to show that people are very aware of their rights as citizens who decide the future of this country, the same goes for youth since a large percent is made up of people below the age of 40...

Irrespective of the age, a big cross section of the People in India have started believing that all along they were chasing mirages. Seeing the scams and innumerable number of incidents of Misrule, people have firmly determined to root out the clan of Politicians. This is obvious in the high attendance in exercising the Franchise in the recently held elections. And this true in rural areas too.

Personally I have no trust right now.. same goes for people around me.. But still we go and use our right. That's it. Unless any politician do something firmly for our country it is hard to trust them. I don't know the rest of the country thinks the same or not.

Youth or old- men or women- mostly there are divided on religion, community, region. Robust campaign by powerful political party or leader also influences some.

Well, probably when you had put forth this question, campaigning for Lok Sabha elections were going on in full-throttle. And I saw a change in the young people..professional taking interest in election, politics and its goings-on. Even I started following news related to politics. The no.of voters who turned up to vote this year was definitely higher than last election..so going by this trend I would say people have started taking interest in politics, though for figures/percentage you will have to google and refer appropriate sites.
