Calisthenics implies that certain athletes use their bodyweight in a particular way so as to develop movement strength, while maintaining their body mass, keeping their weight under control, as in they remain lean. Some people prefer to have body strength without looking like a wrestler.

The effectiveness calisthenics can be attributed to it’s basic principle which uses one’s own body weight to build muscles. It means, one need not go for a gym to lift weights and other equipment to build muscles.
PushUps. PullUps,SitUps are but a few examples of calisthenics, which can be done in home without going to gym and without lifting weights. In all the exercises your own body weight is employed to build muscles.
