How essential is a Place of worship to you ?

Are places of worships essential and necessary for us ? If tommorrow all of them are shut down permanently , will our life get affected or will there be a change in our lifestyle any way ? Personally it would make very little difference to me, however I would like to get different view points on this ...

For me personally, it is not really necessary. A small area designated in my own home is enough for me, but collectively as a member of the community, I think such a designated place is essential for me, my children etc. A place where the common reason for congregating together is faith and belief in something that is pure and sacred. It inculcates a sense of unity and being a part of something good. While the mushrooming of religious centres that we are seeing together is totally wrong and they are nothing short of business ventures to earn money, we should understand where we need to draw a line at. Whether we want to really do something good for ourselves and our society or we just need an authorised place where we can pay bribes to the god against the misdeeds committed by us, we need to decide and choose what it should be.

I gave much significance to both the terms - God and Prayer. But it doesn't mean I visit temples regularly or has a feeling that God exists only in temples or churches. Also I always pray silently in mind, never recite mantras, devotional songs and slogas in high pitch in front of the deity. I often wonder why people chant mantras aloud at temples? Is god deaf? Can't we pray silently in mind? Won't our words reach God's ears? Is it needed we should pray only before idol?????

For me, any silent place is not less than a temple or holy place. Actually I hate most the rush at holy places. For me, it doesn't make much significance if we go and see a glance of the deity at Thirupathi in a flash of seconds. I need some free moments before 'his presence' so that my mind is free to prepare itself to pray.

For me, if those highly populated holy places are shut for a day or two, it doesn't make any significance. A small temple less crowded can give us more mental peace and happiness for sure if we believe silence is the true prayer.......

Let me add one more thing......Whole world is filled with some positive energies and negatives. In every holy place, there is a source of positive energy. That's the reason why we never think about evils and violence while sitting inside a temple or church. We think only about our sorrows or happiness and never plan anything in mind to destroy another person. That's the positiveness of positive energy. If we are able to fill such a positive energy inside our homes, our homes will be definitely another temple or church and a good place to worship too......

No it's not important for me. The important part is my own feeling. God is everywhere.

I'll be the first to welcome if all the places of worship are locked. Places of worship are the cess pools of corruption, superstitions and irrational beliefs. My place of worship is in my heart.

Well, to me it is enough to have a small temple inside my home. But looking a bigger picture it will affect not just the religious people all over but a lot of place of worship act as a tourist attraction. Religion is something that holds people together and people unite in the name of religion so it would definitely hit hard on us as a community.

I don't think place is important for worshiping its just a feeling or a respect for whom we worship. I don't go to temples more often but still I believe on God and take His name in crisis as well as when I am happy.

To me, God is my own Self, my own awareness, which is one and the same as the Universal Awareness. We pray to our Self, and our Self answers to us, but we pretend that God is a third person. God is formless, but ordinary man cannot imagine anything without a form. So he believes in a personal God and started to worship him in temples and churches. Temples and holy places were filled with the positive vibrations of people and there was a time when we used to experience a feeling of Godliness there. But now the situations have changed and all of them have become multi-national business establishments, and Gods have escaped from there forever.

For me a silent place is sufficient with any God Photos. Also a silent nature filled place is also good without God Photo also. I think its all about peaceful environment.
