Today the world is changing at a very fast pace due to globalization. The thoughts of people are also changing with it as well. The world seems to become a one world with the passing time which was divided into many worlds up-to the middle of 20th century due to the lack of communication. As the effect of powerful over the weak is always there so the concept of free society with less restrictions is also nourishing these days in all the countries of the world. Marriage system is also effected due to it.

Now marriage is considered to be very sacred by people whereas other consider it be an important part to grow and act as real human being.If we look into the dictionary the definition of marriage is somewhat like this "Marriage is a legally accepted relationship between a man and a woman in which they live as husband and wife, or the official ceremony which results in this." The definition of marriage in dictionary may not be very pleasing to people who consider it very sacred. For them Marriage is the unification of two souls which are together in this life and will remain together even in afterlife. People around the world have different opinion about marriage. Although this is sure that marriage results in the relationship between a man and a woman(heterosexual marriage only) and it is astonishing that it was there from pre-medieval times and it was present in every society of the world.

When marriage is going to happen, the partner can be chosen by the parents(called arranged marriage) or the person can himself/herself can choose the partner(called love marriage). To get married with the help marriage bureaus or matrimonal sites can also be classified under arrange marriage. Lets understand the concept of arrange marriage and love marriage one by one:

Arranged marriage:

Its actually an agreement between a man and woman to live together as husband and wife, and there can be one or numerous causes behind it. In arranged marriage the person, one's guardian or one's fellow members seek a partner for him/her. in arranged marriages both the partners may or may not be knowing each other. The basic reason for arranged marriage which actually give the name arrange to it is that the partners are joining together due to some reason but there is no love in between them. Love may happen between them after marriage but during marriage they have no love affair in between them.

The advantages of arranged marriages are many but the most probable cause of arrange marriage is the need of an offspring(nautre's law to reproduce). Marriage of convenience is a marriage in which a marriage is made in order to achieve some financial or political purpose. Now marriages like this benefits a lot but the there is no gain in the love life of a person. Lets see its advantages:

1). Political or financial purpose can be achieved.

2). Relations within the marrying persons' families gets stronger.

3). Selection of the best mate is possible.

4). Doesn't require knowing each other

5). The problems like cast difference, financial difference etc are very few

6). The success rate is very high than love marriages.

7). Love may grow with time which may result in a very happy relationship.

8).There are very less compromises

9)Family values are preserved

10).Is widely accepted in the society with less or no resistance

11).Less resentment and low expectations from partner

12).More emphasis is on children

But with these so many advantages there is also the other side of the coin in which the side is not as bright as you must be seeing it now. The disadvantages are also many.

1).Love life is not the priority.

2).May result in large gaps in age.

3).Ma not be knowing each other

4).Family pressure

5).Dowry

6).Very less or no interest in partner.

7).More cases of betrayal or outside love affair

8).Fear in the mind of one of one's spouse

Now these were the advantages and disadvantages of arranged marriages. As you can see the advantages of arranged marriages are more but the disadvantages of arranged marriages are more bigger than advantages. Now lets have some look upon Love marriage also

Love marriage:

Now this is more like humanly. It happens in only in these species. While all other organisms will look for the best mate but humans may leave the best just to go with someone they love. Love is usually a deep affection for someone. Love marriage happens when both the man and woman love each other, and they go into a relationship to live together as husband and wife. The procedure is same as that of arranged marriage but there is no involvement of other person in choosing the partner of a person but himself/herself. Lets discuss its advantages:

1).More emphasis on spouse

2).Very high emotional satisfaction

3).Absolute satisfaction of possessing the beloved one

4).Knowing each other

5).Respect and love for each other

6).Love is the priority

7)Sex life is much better

with these advantages, the disadvantages of love marriage are also very high

1).Divorce rate is very high

2).May last for a very less time

3).Family may turn bad and may not support

4).Caste difference problems may occur

5).In some societies love marriage is a sin

6).Resistance to love marriage is very high in some societies

7).Children are not given much importance

8).Breaking of marriage may affect very badly to both the partners

so these were some advantages and disadvantages of arranged and love marriage. A person may go for arranged marriage if he is not in love otherwise if he is already in love then obviously he will opt for love marriage. Marriage, maybe love or arranged is a great blessing. One should always marry once in a lifetime and the children after marriage gives a great experience and status in the society. For those who are married- Happy married life and those are going to marry- happy marriage.
