Many of you should have heard about rooting the Android phone and installing Custom ROM on it. Well, what is this Rooting Android phone?  And what is this Custom ROM? Here on this article we will see about these things related to rooting the android phone and how to install the custom ROMs. We will also see the Advantages and Disadvantages for having both the things on our android phone. So let’s begin now.

What Is Rooting the Android Device?

First let me tell you that Android is the open source mobile operating system developed by Google. Open source means user can do changes in it as per requirement, of course if they know the android programming. I mean without information you can bricked your mobile phone easily. Just because of that Mobile Company which manufacture the android mobile device put restriction to access this root section where all system file available of android device, so that user don’t able to make any changes into their android device. Well, of course this restriction has been put for safety purpose only as not all users know about android developing, so accessing system things can be dangerous and one can easily damage their phone by changing system files.

Now what about developers who knows the developing stuffs in the android section? Well, for it developers have already found ways for accessing this restricted area so that they can easily do changes in these system files and make changes in their android device as per their requirement. So to open the key of this lock and access the root section of any android device is called rooting the android phone. I guess this is the easiest words in which I have described about the rooting thing. You should able to understand the basic concept of rooting the android device. Well, as not all of users have developing skill, it is fair that it is restricted otherwise mobile repairing section would have been heavily busy because of that. Lol. Now let’s see the Disadvantages and Advantages of Rooting any android device. You better read all these stuff before rotting your or others android device as it can be surely risky.

Disadvantages and things you should know before rooting:

Rooting process is not same: Well, Let me clear this thing, Rooting process of android phone is not same for every phone. Each phone has different rooting procedure. So if someone will follow rooting procedure of some other phone then it is possible that your phone gets bricked. So be very careful on rooting your phone. And make sure that procedure you are following for rooting your phone is specially made for your device only. Never use the procedure which is made for other phone. So be very careful on this stuff.

Rooting can easily brick your phone: Well, I have already mentioned that rooting is the stuff which is specially intended for Developer people. So if you don’t have enough knowledge on it then you can easily brick your phone if you will make changes into some system file. So be very careful and be sure before making any changes into system file, otherwise you have to hand your phone into repairing purpose and that may cause you to spend more money for repairing.

Warranty will be ended: You will ask what if phone is in warranty period. But let me tell you that you will end void your warranty by rooting your phone. Company will not count your phone in warranty if your phone is bricked and you will go there for repairing purpose. So make sure about your purpose of rooting the phone as you are costing your warranty period of your costly smart phone. So you have to be very careful on this thing too.

So these are the disadvantages of rooting the android device. I guess this should be enough reasons that why you should be so sure before rooting your android phone. Now let’s see what the advantages of rooting are.

Advantages of Rooting the Android phone:

As I mentioned earlier rooting is for the developer people. So if user knows all the information or even all required information related to this thing then rooting can be surely great stuff for him/her.

You can remove Bloat Application: First let me tell you about Bloat applications. After receiving latest android smart phone you should have noticed that you have got few default applications from the company of your phone. Well, sometime we get really useless applications from the company and which can’t be removed as company has installed them in system folder. So that’s what called Bloat apps. But as I mentioned after rooting we can access the system folders of our android phone, so that we can easily remove such bloat applications/ pre installed applications after rooting the phone. For that we need some special application like ‘Titanium backup’ (which required root phone to remove apps) using which you can easily uninstall those preinstalled apps.

Make changes in the look: As I mentioned already, you can make changes in system file of your android phone. So that you can easily make changes in system like changes the size of fonts, type of fonts, position of clock and other stuffs and many more. Similarly you can also make changes in colors, icons and wallpaper in your system files. In short you can make changes in your overall look which has been given by your mobile company. But yes you should have proper knowledge about all these things.

Speed up your phone and save battery: As you can access the system files you can also make changes in clock speed of CPU of your phone. By this way you can speed up your phone process by making changes as per your requirement. But yes you will feel some other changes by doing these things as making changes in these stuffs can surely affect other things too. Something like you can feel the low battery backup. You can increase the battery backup by doing reverse process too. Well, I have never tried this stuff by my own, I have read about these things that it is possible, but surely it is a hard task without proper knowledge better avoid it.

Get upgraded operating system: Well, This is called installing custom operating system. We will see more about it at bottom in Custom Rom section. Just know that you can get latest operating system even you haven’t got any official updates about it.

Do certain tasks: Rooting has its own benefits. There are many applications available on the Google Play store but which can be only access if you having rooted phone. With those applications you can do some certain tasks which you can’t do with the normal application.  As I mentioned about ‘Titanium Backup’ earlier that you can uninstall pre-installed apps using that application. Same way there are tons of application which can do lots of customization as you like on your phone but for that you surely need rooted android device. So this is one of benefit of having rooted phone.

This should be enough advantages for anyone to have their android phone rooted. But yes it is for only those people who having enough information about how to handle their phones after rooting. So be very careful and get all required information before going for rooting your android device. Best of luck.

Now let’s see about installing Custom Rom on your phone.

What is Custom ROM?

After this much reading, you already know that Android operating system is open source. That means anyone can take piece of android operating system and make changes in it for having even more upgraded features for the same operating system. Well, such operating system can be called Custom ROM. Such custom ROM can be upgraded version of original android operating system came with your mobile or even completely new operating system with upgraded version too. As the name suggest custom ROM means it is custom made operating system which can have all upgraded feature and things you required and which you didn’t get on the original operating system given by  your mobile company.

What are the Requirements for installing Custom ROM?

Installing custom ROM is not an easy thing. You surely need some specific things on your android device before going for the installations. There are two main things.

Rooted phone: Well, you surely need rooted phone before installation of custom ROM. As you are making changes in your phone’s system files you surely need rooted phone before going for custom ROM on your phone. So have your phone rooted before going for it.

Custom Recover option: For installing purpose you also need recovery option using which you can full wipe your phones file and install the fresh file of new custom ROM. So you need custom recovery too for this purpose to have custom ROM on your phone.

Now let’s see about Advantage and disadvantage of having this custom ROM.

Advantages and Disadvantages:

Advantages of Custom ROM: You can have your own customized custom operating system as per your requirement with the features you can’t get on original operating system came with your mobile. You can get even latest android operating system on your phone even you haven’t got the official updates for the same android os for your phone from your phone company. So these are the advantages which are really cool.

Disadvantage: Well, as far as I know if you install the proper custom ROM which is specially made for your phone you will not get more disadvantage. Let me tell you custom ROM developed for other phone can’t be install on your phone, in fact installing such ROM on your phone can damage it easily. So be careful of that. Other thing is that it is hard to get stable custom ROM. I mean official operating system came from your mobile company is really stable which have no problems at all, but badly developed custom ROM can have many problems. In fact most of the Custom ROMs are not as stable as original firmware of android came with your mobile phone from the company itself. So be careful of this stuff.

So this is it. I have given almost all information about rooting and custom rom for your android device. I don’t know more about android developing thing but whatever I know I have already mentioned above. Hope it will be helpful to you somehow. I am again telling this thing for safety purpose that rooting the android device and installing custom ROM is not easy and it is not the thing for all users. It is risky if you don’t have enough knowledge on it, and you can easily brick your phone. So be careful and have fun.
