Microsoft plans to release Windows 7, its latest operating system, on 22nd October,2009. This one is sure to replace their previous products like Windows xp and Windows Vista.

Windows 7 promises to bring in new features that make the use of a computer on a daily basis very much simpler and easier. The taskbar at the bottom of the screen is improved. We can make our programs handy, just a click away, by pinning them onto the taskbar and rearraging the icons by just dragging. Also, by hovering over an icon we get thumbnails of every window that opens within the particular program. And by hovering over the thumbnails we can view the window full size. This will definitely reduce our task of minimizing and restore!

The Jump List feature is a handy way to quickly reach the recent files we've used. Like, right click on the Word icon and get the list of recent Word documents.

There are several desktop enhancements aswell. With Windows 7 you dont have to manually resize the windows to compare them. With Snaps, you can grab a window and pull it to either edge of the screen and it fits in half the screen, ready for comparison now. And if u want to access the desktop to view the gadgets or any file, simply move the cursor to lower right corner of the screen and this will make all the open windows transparent, making the desktop immediately visible. To minimize all windows except one, grab the top of the window and shake it, your task is done. Now that's like some magic!

Then there are Windows Search, to search the PC and Internet Explorer 8; Devices and Printers, the single screen to manage phones, iPods, printers etc; Device Stage, which provides with a better device management. We can also manage power consumption by adaptive display brightness.

All these, and many more added features, promise less waiting, fewer clicks and less complexity. Quoting Microsoft, "It is more work, more play and more of everything in-between with Windows 7"!
