The number of computers uses connected to the network was is in 1971 and rose rapidly to 407.1 millions in November 2000.The age of Internet considered in the form of computer networking in 1962, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The DOD was working on a complex project where the input of very high accordance and technological content was required to be integrated. The work was being carried out at Stanford Research Institute University of California at Santa Barbara and at Los Angeles and University of Utah. The computer at these four places were net worked together and communication between them were established thus creating the APRANET. This consisted of four major technological breakthrough
(1) Network Matries
(2) Network Topology
(3) Interface message processor
(4) Hretitech Rural Design.
The APRANET, the first public demonstration of the network was organised during the international computer communication conference in 1972. Internet great mainly because it found wide spread application and it provided utility and services to the common man in the society.

Utility Of Internet: Internet basically utilizes the convergence of computers and communication techonologies are making studies over last thirty years in an imprecedented way. For this purpose a worldwide network of computer had to be established in such a away that any computer anywhere in the world could be connected to any of the millions & billions of computers. it is like a web woven by the spider. any pointer on the spider web is connected to all other points through portal either of number of concentric rings or of spoke-like structure or both.

E-Mail: The E-mail was addressed ti himself and the body read the message "QWERTUIPO" and testing 1-2-3. The development of web browser gave a big boost to the use of e-mail in the e-commerce age. the most well known e-mail portal was purchased by Microsoft in Jan 1998 for 4000 dollar million from Sabeer Bhatia. its success led to the emergence of other free portals such as Yahoo mail etc. now this is a move in some form to make e-mail a paid service. however e-mail to some extent could dislodge over dependence on telephone and portal department. Lot of innovation is still alongside e-mail, like voice mails, sms, instant, messengers, internet telephony, web enabled services etc. E-mail was neither a mouse click away nor with graphical user interface in the early days. Today e-mail client come with attractive features and simple interface every e-mail client has 5 elements-
(1) Protocol support for POP3, NMAP 4
(2) Interface
(3) Customisation multiple e-mail account handling
(4) Features address book, bulk mailing masking
(5) Security with encryptions like Mime or PGP or SSL.

Growth Path of E-Mail: In 1969 the birth of APRANET , the forerunner of the presents internet. Ray Thomolinson sends in 1971 first ever e-mail. In 1979 Eomoticoms bring life into other wise boring computer newsgroup. internet birth and TCP/IP introduced in 1982. William Gibson in his book Newsmancer uses the world Cyber space in 1984. WWW is officially created by Tim Berner Lee at CERN Switzerlandin 1991. In 1993, first graphical web Browser mouse released for public use leading to concept of net surfing. In 1996, 150 countries connected via internet and 40 million e-mails were sent every day in the whole world. 7 million new web pages on the web about half of the English language. e-mail attraction is ever growing as computers are becoming more common and reaches to the interior of the villages.

E-mail process: email clients software installed in our computer and ready internet connection. open the email clients which bridges our computer and the email server. the email converts our typed text message in to a suitable format that mailing server can understand and process enable security to protect our email from being intercepted. the typed message is passed along to an SMTP server which scans the headers and looks up the destination address using domain look-up servers. once located,the SMTP server sends the mail to the final destination.from our local mail server, the mail is passed along to the recipients mail server. after receiving the message it is internally transfered the POP3 served and finally to a mail box where the email is stored. the email client connects with the mail server download and store all in-coming massages, using the POP3 protocols.
