Why is the sun spotty?
Some parts of the sun’s surface are cooler than the rest of it. These cooler parts appear darker than the rest of the sun, like spots on its surface. They are called sun spots.
What is the sunniest place on earth?
The Sahara desert in North Africa is the sunniest place on earth. It is sunny for 12 hours every day! It hardly rains, which makes it hard plants and animals to live there.
What is a Lunar month?
The moon revolves around its own axis every 29 ½ days, which is also the time it takes to complete one orbit around the earth. This period of time is known as lunar month.
When is know dangerous?
When lots of snow falls on mountains, deep layers build up on the slopes. The snow many suddenly slide down the mountain. This is termed as an avalanche. A big avalanche can bury a town. Aloud noise or even a person walking on the snow can start an avalanche.

This India born astronaut went into space twice. She was on the space shuttle, Columbia, in February, 2003. It exploded in space, 16 minutes away from the earth and all the astronauts died.
Satellites in space
- Earth’s only natural satellite is the moon.
- Pluto’s natural satellite is known as Charon.
- Ganymede is the largest satellite belonging to Jupiter. It is larger than Mercury and Pluto.
- Neptune’s moon triton is the coldest place in the solar system, with surface temperature of -236degree cilices it is the only moon to orbit backwards.
- Uranus has 27 moons, all named after characters in William Shakespeare’s plays.
