Most insects have also got wings. Butter flies, houseflies and bees have small wings.

Fish live in water, and they can’t run or fly. They can swim along the water. They use their fins and tails to swim.

Some animals have no need to move. They are picked up by some other animals, and they live on their bodies. Such animals are called parasites. Bugs, lice, etc. are parasites. But some times parasites also move about.

Many creatures trap their prey. Haven’t you seen a spider’s web? It is really a trap. Flies and small insects get stuck on these on these webs. They are caught and killed by the spider for food. The archer fish fires small water droplets on insects. They eat these poor insects which fall into the water.

The snake can swallow its food whole. It can eat animals which are bigger than it. The earthworm eats soil and decaying plants. It also feeds on ripe fruits.

Some animals like vultures feed on dead decaying matter. They are called scavengers. A parasite is an animal that lives in or on the body of another animal. They take food from their hosts and give back nothing.

Some animals have special equipments to deal with their food. Some birds have long pointed beaks. These help them to suck honey from flowers and catch worms from tree stumps.
