We name all people together as one kind of animal. So, we call ourselves human beings.

No animal can live without air, food and water. Human beings need all these things too.

We also need clothes and shelter.

These things which we need to stay alive are our basic needs.

Your body needs the right kind of food.

Proper food helps the body grow.

It helps to make the bones, muscles and other parts of the body strong.

It gives you the power and energy to do all kinds of work.

No one can live happily if the body is not healthy.

Food keeps your body in good working shape.

We like to eat different types of food.

Rice, wheat, sugar, salt, potato, tomato, milk, butter and oil give us energy.

Fish, meat, eggs, milk and certain vegetables make our bones and muscles strong.

Carrot, milk, green vegetables and fruits give us good eyesight, strong teeth and a healthy skin.

Good food saves you from falling ill.

The h8man body can use only a small portion of food at one time.

It is also unhealthy to keep the stomach empty for a long time.

People usually eat four meals a day.

Breakfast

It is the first meal of the day. Be sure to eat a good meal. It must make you strong enough to face the day ahead.

Lunch

Lunch is the midday meal. It gives you back the strength you have used up since morning.

It is a fairly big meal.

Tea and coffee

Coffee is taken in the early morning before breakfast. Tea is taken as a light evening meal.

Dinner

Dinner is the last meal of the day. It is also called supper.

It must not be too little or too much.

Eating at regular times of the day is very important.

With all the solid food items you ear, you must have enough liquids like milk tea, coffee, fruit juice and soup.

Many children enjoy eating out, at parties and restaurants, with family and friends.

Food habits

 

To be strong, healthy and energetic, we must have good food habits. We should eat only clean food.

We should eat neither more nor less than we need.

We must wash our hands before ever meal.

After every meal we must wash our hands and mouth.
