India has glorious past and the `rajas’ and the maharajas’ of our country has been a part our splendid history.

  • King Tippu sultan –Mysore war: king Tippu and the British during the governor of Lord Wellesley. Tippu sultan had not forgotten the humiliation he suffered in the previous war and was determined to avenge it. For that he entered into negotiations with the French. At the same time sultan even refused to enter into the subsidiary alliance initiated by general lord Wellesley. This enraged the governor- general, who declared battle on him on in 1791. King Tippu sultan was besieged at Srirangapatnam. Tippu was besieged there. He fought till the last and died a martyr’s death. With the death of king sultan Tippu, the British got rid their most formidable rival in south India.
  • Chandragupta maurya was the first to establish an empire in India. He was assisted in his mission by his wise and able tutor Chanakya.
  • Ashoka was the most famous king of the fierce battle of Kaligna in 261 BC.
  • Kanishka was the greatest king of the kushana dynasty. He was a great conqueror and later he became a patron of Buddhism.
  • Samudragupta belonged to the gupta dynasty. He was known as the `Indian napoleon’. He was a great conqueror, scholar, poet and musician.
  • Chandragupta II was a brave as his father Samudragupta. During his region, great men like Kalidas, Aryabhatta and Varahamihira flourished in his court.
  • Hashavaradhana was the king of Thaneswar war. His court poet Bhanabhatta wrote his biography `Harshacharita’.
  • Prithviraj Chauhan, the Rajput king, was the ruler of Delhi and Ajmer. He married princess Sanyukta, the daughter of king Jaichand.
  • Iltumish became the sultan of Delhi after the death of Quatabuddin Aibak. He was a gifted statesman and administrator and transformed Delhi from a minor fortress town into an imperial capital.
