Adding texture effect to humans:

1.) Open an image file and convert the file to Photoshop file by right clicking the background layer and selecting, ‘layer from background’.

2.) Open another file, in this example cracks image.

3.) First resize the image to fit to the area where you want to blend the crack effect.

4.) Next, use the Transform tool again, right click and select Warp option. You can use the warp option to convert the shape of the crack image so that it would fit on the area perfectly.

See the following image for detail.

5.) After correctly placing the image, create another copy of the modified crack for future reference and hide the original and use the copy.

6.) Select the modified crack image and select the mode: Soft light in the layer box.

You can use any modes depending on the effect you want to bring out. The most suited options are ‘soft light’ or ‘overlay’ and sometimes ‘multiply’.

7.) Now select the eraser tool and selecting the crack layer, erase the excess portion which is visible on the hair etc.

You can follow the similar procedure for even the other parts. In the following image i used, soft light and duplicated the layers using CTRL + J to have a stronger effect.

You can use any of the modes for blending for the following also. You can also adjust the hue/saturation for the skin to blend with the crack image.
