Save water to avoid war
Do you really save water?
This question must arise in each and every human being. The importance of water saving will be felt when there is war between countries for water. Statistics says that the availability of water is very limited. Unless each and every human being take some step towards saving water right from now, I am sure there will be shortage of all sources of water.
Each and every individual must take some step towards this mission to save water. It must be taken as a challenge. Some simple steps towards saving water that can be implemented by each and every individual.
Save water and save mankind.
Some simple steps:
Rainwater harvesting:
It is the prominent method to conserve water. This method must be made compulsory throughout the world. If this method is implemented globally then water can be conserved effectively. We must take the initiative and do the necessary action for implementing this method. We can spread this method by just telling to our friends and relatives.
Avoid leakage:
We can find leaking taps in our household or in our friends’ house or in relatives house. Immediate steps must be taken to stop the leakage. This could save gallons of water.
Turn the tap off:
This is the most common mistake we all make. We do not turn off the tap while not in use especially when we brush or wash our clothes. This can be easily avoided.
Avoid unnecessary flushing in the toilets:
We flush our toilets unnecessarily. This must be avoided to save water.
Creating awareness:
Awareness must be created among people about the importance of saving water. We spend a lot of hours talking with our friends about useless things. If we use a part of this time to create awareness among our friends about the conservation of water then millions of gallons of water will be saved for the future.
Checking of hidden water leaks
We have some leakage hidden in our water pipes. This leakage must be properly checked and corrected periodically.
Selecting washing machine:
While selecting the washing machine we must select the one which consumes less water. Excess water consuming washing machines must be avoided.
Discarding of sewage:
Care must be taken to prevent the mixing of sewage from water bodies such as lakes, ponds, rivers etc. industrial sewage also should be discarded properly.
Educating illiterate:
The illiterate people must be educated about the conservation of water by means of dramas, pictures etc.
Water must be charged:
Like current water must be charged depending on the usage. The charges must be considerably high thereby ensuring less usage of water.
In schools:
Conservation of water must be made as a separate subject. This creates awareness among the school children.
Strict laws:
The government must frame new laws to punish those who waste water. This will save a large amount of water.
Unless and until every individual understands his responsibility in saving water it would be too difficult to conserve water. We must wake up before it is too late and avoid war.
