Myths
Every society, modern or primitive, possess stories about its origin and past. More often than not, these stories explain how things came into existence, for example, the earth, the sky, the god’s, animals, and even man himself. When stories such as these have no historical foundation, they are called myths. Folk tales are stories passed on through generations.
Myths are imaginary stories that deal with gods and other supernatural forces and powers. Mythology and religion are closely linked together. Though some of the myths are told to entertain, they fill people explanations of miracles that took place years ago. They fill people with pride of what their ancestors achieved and inspire the descendents to also do something similar to their ancestors.
Everyone, no matter how old, or young likes to read and hear about ‘myths’ and ‘make-believe’ worlds that are often far removed from the harshness of reality.
Myths and magic are inter-related in many ways. Just as magic is believed in even to this day, myths continue to be told with as much zeal and pride as they were long ago.
