Higher education in INDIA
In India we have seen worst and best of higher education. The educated unemployed leads to very tragic consequences. The campus, the course, the teaching guild, the country's leadership and later the job that has nothing to do with what they have learnt. They are in that job just bacause they do not get anything else. A post graduate in physicsbecomes a clerkin the State Electricity Board. A Post- Graduate in arts becomes a conductor. there are cases of engineers joining India Police Service. Most of them are unemployed youth on crime. jobs in government sector are limited.
Best of Higher education: The most brtilliant boys and girls, who have hitched their wagon to a star from our elite institute and we can be proud of them. the Indian Institute of Management, The Indian institute of Technologyand some of our medical and engineering colleges We can be proud of them who can be seen anywhere in the world, UK, Germany, Canada, charted accountant, engineers, doctors, media person etc. and the countries where they are working are also proud of them. but these lucky persons are just a minority and do not certainly reflect the state of higher education in India.
Quality of Higher Education: Unemployment or the creation of job is related to quality of higher education. the problem, in fact, is that we have so been burdened by a top heavy higher education with poor teaching at the primary and secondary levels. development in science and technology is also playing a decisive role in bettering the quality of higher education. Employers would also be able to avail of skilled, semi-skilled, unskilled individuals. Industries often have qualified but not necessarily competent people, students are of little use to the employer and they themselvesare frustrated, faced as they are with a gloomy future. Well equiped libaries that provide quick access to published databox, electronic journal subscription facility and trained library personnel to provide assistance must also be a flexible and efficient administrative and financial support system. The teaching and research and force many a talented scientist to go abroad after a few years of staying in India.
purpose of Education: The purpose of education is to impart knoledge and wisdom. The knowledge is based through innovative inter disciplinary methods. Our purpose of imparting knowledge should be turned towards the societal goal. if we do not keep societal requirements in mind, our eaching and research will become infrustuous. education, be it higher education or any other education is never ending. it is a long process. according to Dr. Zakir Hussain President of India, education does not end with graducation. Educationmust be seen not just as a sub set of society, but also a super set that can transform society. Education revolution can regarenate society, in 21st century in India. good education will brings to people will be accompanied by associated socio-economic elevation.
Higher education will not be small island but a huge ocean development. The knowledge is growing at phenomenal pace a university degree indicates only the arrival of the student at the threshold of knowledge. There are many meritorious students who are unable of higher education due to economic and socialconstraints. higher education requires very careful methodology for this is the real preparation for life. it is must be forward looking.
