Nobel Prize
These prizes are given each year to people who have helped mankind in different ways, the value of each prize is about 1, 00,000 US Dollars. Alfred noble was a Swedish chemist and engineer who invented dynamite, an easy –to handle explosives which replaced earlier explosive like nitroglycerin. His new invention found many uses all over the world and he amassed a fortune from the royalty income. With the major portion of this fortune, he established a trust with the aim of encouraging persons who work in the interest of humanity. The trust gives the most prestigious international awards, known as the noble Prizes. When Alfred noble died in 1896, he felt 9 lakhs dollars to set up the prizes that now bear his name. The interest that this money earns each year forms the awards. The first noble prizes were given in 1901 and originality these were in the fields of physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature and peace. The Nobel Prize for economics was started in 1969. The awarded of the prize for chemistry and physics is decided by the royal Swedish academy of science, for physiology of medicine by royal Caroline institute in Stockholm and for literature by the noble committee of the Norwegian parliament. The prize for economics was established by the Swedish national bank and is awarded by the royal Swedish academy of sciences.
Noble Prize is awarded on 10 December each year, the anniversary of Alfred Noble’s death. Each award consists of a gold medal, a sum of money and a certificate.
