Picking the right job
In the Indian Society there is a great deal of stress on getting a job. There is such a lot of pressure put on the kids right from the primary school days. The reason for this is the population. India has a huge population which is not under control and still growing. Thanks to which it is natural that there is competition for the limited resources that the country has to offer. So there is a tearing hurry to get a good paying job that will support you and your family in the future.
It is at the altar of commerse that the sacrifice of talent is given. A person may be really creative and end up in a dead end job like data entry because that allows him to take home a pay check each month. It is for that reason that parents tell children to study more and play less. Little realizing that if they play well and have talent they can make money from that as well. Just look at the millions that our popular cricket team rakes in each year. Who says that there is no money in games?
It makes sense to pick a job that you enjoy. After all you will be doing it for the rest of your life. Its not something that you must decide on the spur of the moment. You need to pick a job that besides helping you support yourself will allow you to enjoy your work. These days a number of people have joined call centres. It is easy work and the pay is good, but there is a downside. The bio rhythm of the body goes for a toss.
So here are a few pointers for picking a great job
1. Look for what you enjoy doing
2. Make sure the money comes in regularly
3. Follow your passion
Even after all this if you feel you are stuck in the wrong job, get out of it. These days there are a great many things that you can do. So get retrained in a field that you feel you fit well into. There is no shame in trying again till you find what you are best suited for. As long as your parents can support you through this stage, just go for it.
