PRITAM does it again in APKGK!

Yes, you heard it right! Pritam has done it again! Err, I don’t mean plagiarism. After Love Aaj Kal, Pritam has once again come up with some fabulous songs in APKGK.

Ajab PREM Ki Ghazab Kahani, produced by Ramesh Taurani and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, is a forthcoming romantic comedy starring Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Upen Patel in the lead roles.

The album has 14 songs in total including remixes.

Tera Hone Laga Hoon, written beautifully by Ashish Pandit and sung amazingly by Atif Aslam and Alisha Chinoy (one of my personal favourites), is a soft romantic number that has SUPERHIT written all over it. And for the first time, I felt that Neeraj Shridhar singing the English lyrics at parts in a Pritam song sounds nice. Mohit Chauhan would’ve been as appropriate as Atif Aslam for this song. In fact I found the feel of this song similar to that of Kahin Na Lage Mann from Kismat Konnection. Everything is just so beautiful about this song…be it lyrics, music, vocals, chorus singing those nice things in the background. A fabulous song! =D> – 4.5/5

There is also a remix version of Tera Hone Laga Hoon by DJ Suketu, which is really good as well. – 4/5

Next comes Tu Jaane Na, a romantic track which is very Indian and has a classical feel. Atif Aslam’s vocals and Irshad Kamil’s lyrics both are absolutely amazing. Tabla beats sound nice in the background. – 4/5

Tu Jaane Na – Reprise has vocals by Soham (who sang Pritam’s Khudaya Khair), Rana Mazumdar and Ashish Pandit. Soham has done full justice to the song and sounds as good as Atif’s version. – 4/5
Tu Jaane Na – Unplugged by Kailash Kher, Paresh and Naresh is simply BEAUTIFUL! Kailash’s soulful voice with acoustic music takes the song to another level...the song sounds serene. =D> – 4.5/5

There is also a remix version of Tu Jaane Na which has a completely different feel than the original song. This remix has a western feel. – 4/5

Oh By God, a fast paced number sung by Mika Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan will just make you say WTF! Moreover, I cannot imagine Katrina Kaif who has a British accent singing things like 'by god' in a pure desi way Sunidhi sings it. Cannot really blame Irshad Kamil for WTF lyrics since he would’ve just written as per the film maker’s demands. – 1/5

Javed Ali and Jojo come together for a romantic song with modern feel, Aa Jao Meri Tamanna. Irshad’s lyrics and Pritam’s music both are good. Overall, a decent number! I can already imagine frandshippers singing Aa Jao Meri Tamanna to Tammy!  – 3/5

The remix version of Aa Jao Meri Tamanna has an electro feel and the tempo has been raised. I found this remixed version slightly better than the original. – 3/5

Hard Kaur starts off Main Tera Dhadkan Teri with some rap. KK and Sunidhi Chauhan have sung this foot tapping peppy dance number. The way kuch yaar nazar nahi aata, ghar-baar nazar nahi aata, sansar nazar nahi aata jab pyaar hota hai part goes sounds familiar…any plagiarism/inspirations here? Or is it just me?? And I wonder who else has rapped in the song apart from Hard Kaur. Anyway, a decent track! – 3/5

Extra beats in the remix version of Main Tera Dhadkan Teri makes it sound more energetic than the original track. The remix has an electro feel. – 3/5
Neeraj Shridhar and Suzie Q have given vocals for Prem Ki Naiyya, a light fun song which can probably fall into same category as Chor Bazaari from Love Aaj Kal. Neeraj sounds tired and lacks energy. The track doesn’t sound as peppy as it should have. – 2/5

Prem Ki Naiyya also has a remix version, which unfortunately also fails to impress. – 1.5/5

Finally, there is Follow Me, a 2:52 min short rap song written and sung by Hard Kaur. I personally found it to be an average track but people into Desi-Rap and Hard Kaur fans would definitely like it. – 2.5/5

---

Overall, this album has some AMAZING songs, some average songs and some bad songs. I don’t know if Pritam has plagiarised anything this time or not. I don’t give a hoot about plagiarism if Pritam can come up with extraordinary tracks like Tu Jaane Na and Tera Hone Laga Hoon.

The best tracks of the album are Tera Hone Laga Hoon (both versions) and Tu Jaane Na (all four versions) and Aa Jao Meri Tamanna.

Rating for the Album – 3/5
