Music – Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy

The film has 10 songs in total – 6 originals + 4 songs from previous KJo films

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Richa Sharma and Shankar Mahadevan has given vocals for Sajda. All three singers have done an outstanding job in this Qawwali. This song would’ve been incomplete without sajda tera sajda part by chorus. Rahat’s high-pitched renditions, Shankar’s occasional soft singing, Richa’s voice, chorus, simple music…everything is just so beautiful about this track. 4/5

Adnan Sami, Shreya Ghoshal and Shankar Mahadevan come together for Noor-E-Khuda, a soft song with outstanding lyrics. The Noor-E-Khuda part by Shankar, which is also heard in the trailer towards the end, is the best part in the song. Tabla beats and chorus sound amazing in the song. Outstanding job done by the singers. 4/5

Next comes Tere Naina by Shafqat Amanat Ali. This one’s a romantic track with Qawwali feel to it. Shafqat’s vocals are really good but not as effective as they were in Mitwa. A good song overall but not something that will stay in your playlist for long. 3/5

Allah Hi Rahem is a devotional sufi song by Ustad Rashid Khan. Amazing vocals. It would be great to have this song in the film but cannot stay in your regular playlist for long. 3.5/5

Khan Theme by Strings is a slow instrumental, which I am sure would be effective in the film. Cannot rate this one.

The start of Rang De reminds you straightaway of Rock On!!. This rock song is delivered fantastically by Shankar Mahadevan and Suraj Jagran. The lyrics are great and promotes peace. A decent number overall! 3.5/5

The album also includes other hit songs from KJo’s previous films:

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Suraj Hua Madham
Kal Ho Naa Ho
Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna

---

Overall, S-E-L have done a commendable job. They’ve come up with some quality Sufi music this time. However, some of the songs will only sound good in the film and wouldn’t last long in the regular playlist.

Sajda, Noor-E-Khuda and Rang De are the best ones out of the lot.

My Rating for the Album3.5/5
