Brick (2005)

Low budget, low cast but up-to-the-mark performances and presentation. The movie has a strange atmosphere created in which it drags us successfully. You will take a few minutes to adjust to that but you'll surely. And then its outstanding. I loved the story telling, the vision of the director was so brilliant, I was amused at the end. The cinematography was top notch and everything from the start till climax was perfect. It was emotional in its own way, it was intense in its own way, it conveyed the message in its own way, all in all, it was a real good experience to watch this film.

The editor did a fantastic job and not even one frame that was useless. The lead actor really stayed in the character till the end. Supporting actors were impressive too. I love to watch cinema like this. Its just really good.

Its just not an entertainer, its much more than that.

Go for this one!

The Illusionist (2006)

After the much "hoo-hoo-haa-haa" of the film in the community a couple of days ago, I finally gave it a shot.

Trust me, it deserves that "hoo-hoo-haa-haa" totally.

WOW!! Masterpiece. One of the best Ed Norton movies. How does he do that? Seriously? The scene with which the movie starts, with Ed Norton sitting on the chair, OMG! I simply love that scene. That scene was the best act of Ed Norton for me as yet. He delivered the character with an ease. The character is not easy at all. Its really difficult to judge a movie with rock solid performances like these, it puts you in a dilemma to choose the best for the year's oscars. I pity the jury for this! And what shocked me more was, he wasn't even nominated for the year? alt Later did I see the list of other nominees and I got my answer. alt

I've never liked Jessica Biel as an actress and I still feel she could've been replaced by other great actresses (she looked stale in the movie), Keira Knightley for that matter (I find her most appropriate, in my opinion). But anyway, the movie was a treat and I'm a fan of the set designer & art director of the movie. I thought I was actually watching a movie made almost a century ago. Kudos to the director Neil Burger and hats off to the writers Neil Burger & Steven Millhauser.
