Balanced Diet for Diabetic patients

A balanced diet plays a vital role in keeping us healthy. Like every normal people, people suffering from Diabetes do also need a balanced diet to drive the energy requirement for themselves. It is about 1800 calories per day. Due to improper metabolism of glucose, all those food items, beverages like cola drinks etc. containing high glucose must be avoided. White sugar in every form should be strictly avoided.

In order to meet the energy requirements, the mentioned Balanced Diet can really prove to be helpful.

  • Early Morning: Tea- 1 cup

Biscuits- 2(preferably salty)

  • Mid Morning: Half Apple
  • Breakfast: Veg sandwich(multigrain bread)- 2 piece

Milk-1 glass (skimmed)

  • Lunch: 3 chapatti (wheat: gram flour in the ratio of 3:2)

Green Vegetable- 1 and a half bowl

Curd- 100gm

Salad- 1 Quarter plate (Sprouts with Tomato and Onion)

  • Evening: Tea- 1 cup

Biscuits- 4

Fruit - 1 (like Guava etc.)

  • Dinner:  2 chapatti

Rice 1 bowl(It should be avoided as much possible because of its high starch content)

Vegetable: 1 bowl(one and a half teaspoon oil)

Salad- 1 Quarter plate(cucumber)

 

Apart from having a balanced diet, exercises and yoga also play a significant role. A very noteworthy point that should be kept in mind always is
