Here I have come with tantalizing thursday menu for toddlers and others at home.

BreakFast

Aloo Masala Dosa

Ingredients

To prepare Aloo Masala

Potatoes                    - 2
Onions                       - 1
Green Chillies            -2
Turmeric Powder      - a pinch
Hing                           - a pich
Dry Red chillies         - 1
Mustard seeds          -1 tsp
Broken urad dal        -1 tsp
Channa dal                - 1 tsp
Curry leaves             - 3-4
Corriander leaves     - 2 tsp
Salt                           - as required
Water                        - as required
Oil                             - as required

Method of Preparation

1.Boil the potatoes, peel off the skin, mash the potatoes and keep it aside.

2.Heat Oil in a kadai and add the mustard seeds,broken urad dal,channa dal,curry leaves and the dry red chillies.

3.Let the mustard seeds splutter and wait till the broken urad dal and channa dal turns brown.

4.Chop the Onions and the green chillies length wise.

5.Add the chopped onions and the green chillies to the kadai and saute until the onion turns golden brown.

6.Add a pinch of hing and turmeric powder and saute it for a minute or two.

7.Add the mashed potatoes and the required amount of salt and stir the mixture well.

8.Give a final touch to the prepared masala by adding chopped corriander leaves.

How to prepare Dosa

Ingredients

Dosa batter      - 2 cup
Ghe                 -as required

Method of Preparation

1.Place the tawa or non stick pan on medium heat.

2.Once the tawa is hot pour a laddle full of batter at the center and spread it evenly in circular motion.

3.Place a small amount of masala in the center of the dosa and apply ghee over the dosa and also at the edges.

4.Close the dosa with a lid.

5.Let the dosa cook on medium heat and wait till it turns golden brown in colour.

Variation

Aloo masala for poori

1.Add 1 tbsp of besan to some amount of water and mix it well.

2.Add the besan paste to the above prepared masala.

3.Add required amount of water to the aloo masala and allow the gravy to thicken by simmering the flame.

4.Ginger and garlic can also be added depending on the taste of the individual.

Lunch

Pudina Punch

Ingredients

Pudina                    - 1 cup
Mustard seeds       - 1tbsp
Broken urad dal      - 1 tbsp
Hing                        -a pinch
Dry red chillies       -5
Tamarind                -half the size of a lemon
Garlic                     -1 to 2
Salt                         -as required
Oil                          -as required

Method of Preparation

How to prepare pudina paste

1.Heat Oil in a kadai and mustard seeds,broken urad dal and hing.

2.Let the mustard seeds splutter and the broken urad dal turn golden brown.Keep it aside.

3.Saute the dry red chillies,tamarind,garlic,pudina leaves and salt one after the other in oil for 4 to 5 minutes.

4.Grind all the ingredients in a mixie until we get a smooth paste.

5.Add the tadka to the pudina paste.

6.I bet this pudina paste aroma will surely increase the appetite.

How to prepare pudina punch

Ingredients

Rice        -2 cup

1.Take a large bowl and add the pudina paste to 2 cups of rice and mix it well.

2.The paste should be evenly spread on each rice granules.

3.This pudina punch goes well with curd raitha.

Variation

1.Scrap coconut,saute it and grind it with other ingredients.The disadvantage of using cocount is the pudina paste will go stale soon.So, it is better to add coconut when we wish to consume the rice immediately.

2.Use of garlic depends on the individual's taste and choice.


Evening Snacks

ManPasand Macaroni

Ingredients

Macaroni                           -1 cup
Onion                                 - 1
Tomato                              - 1
Chilli Sauce                        -1 tbsp
Chilli powder                      - 2 tbsp
Garam masala powder      - 1/4 tbsp
Amchoor powder               -1/4 tbsp
Salt                                     - as required
Water                                  -as required
Oi                                       l-as required

Method of Preparation

1.Add salt to water and allow the water to boil.

2.Add the Macaroni to the boiling water and allow it to boil for 2 -4 minutes.

3.Drain out the water from the Macaroni.

4.Chop Onion length wise. Chop the tomatoes in to fine pieces.

5.Heat Oil in the pan and add the chopped Onions.

6.Add the finely chopped tomatoes once the Onion turns golden brown.

7.Add the Chilli powder,Garam masala powder,salt and amchoor powder one after the other and saute it for 3 minutes.

8.Finally add the boiled Macaroni and stir it well.

9.Add the tomato chilli sauce over it and the "Manpasand Macaroni" is ready to eat.

Variation

1.To make it less spicy just replace all masala items with dry red chillies along with the usual tadka.

Dinner

Fried Idli

Ingredients

Idli                                             -2
Onion                                        -1
Tomato                                     -1
Chilli powder                            - 2 tbsp
Jeera seeds                             -1 tbsp
Ginger garlic paste                  - 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds                         -1/4 tbsp
Broken urad dal                        -14 tbsp
Salt                                            -as required
Oil                                              -as required
Curry leaves                              -5
Corriander Leaves                    -1/4 tbsp

Method of Preparation

1.Cut the Idlis in to small pieces.

2.Heat Oil in a pan and fry the idlis till it turns golden brown.

3.Keep the fried idlis aside.

4.Add the ginger garlic paste to the oil and saute it for a minute.

5.Add the mustard seeds,broken urad dal,jeera seeds and curry leaves and saute it well for 2 minutes.

6.Chop the onion and tomato in to fine pieces.

7.Add the chopped onions and the tomatoes one after the other and saute it well for 3 to 4 minutes.

8.Add the chilli powder to it and saute it well.

9.Finally, add the fried idlis to it and mix it well.

10.Serve it hot with freshly chopped corriander leaves sprinkled over it.
