Ingredients:

1)1 cup chana dal

2)4 cups of water

3)1 tbsp oil

4)1 tbsp cumin seeds(jeera)

5)1 tsp sugar

6)1 tsp amchoor

7)2 dry red chillies

8)1/2 cup grated coconut

9)2 bay leaves(Tej patta)

10)A pinch of asafoetide(heeng)

11)3-4 raisins(kishmish)(optional)

12)Salt and black pepper powder(To taste)

Method:

1)Wash and soak dal for 1/2 an hour.Drain the excess water

2)In a big microwave safe bowl mix 4 cup of water, soaked dal,salt and tumeric powder.Cover and boil, at 100% power for 15 mins. and then microwave covered at 60% power for 10 mins.Stir inbetween.

3)In another microwave safe bowl heat oil at 100% power for 30 secs.

4)Add cumin seeds,asafoetida,bay leaves,red chillies and grated coconut.And microwave at 100% power for 1:30 mins.

5)Mix it with the boiled dal.Add sugar,salt,raisins and amchoor.Microwave covered at 100% power for 3 mins.

6)Allow to stand for 5 mins.Serve hot with boiled rice and chutney
