SKIN

The outer layer of a human body is what we normally refer to as “skin”. Since skin is the most visible layer of our body, the quality and texture of skin can also reveal how healthy you are. So it’s very essential that we take proper and good care of the skin.

There are basically 3 skin types: Normal skin, dry skin and oily skin.

Normal Skin

People with normal skin are considered to be the luckiest of all. Normal skin will have the least problems when compared to the other two skin types. Even with minimum care, a person with normal skin can look really stunning. Normal skin will always look clean and smooth in texture with a healthy glow to it. It will make you feel supple and elastic and will reveal a healthy complexion.

 Dry skin

People with dry skin are more prone to aging signs and wrinkles. Dry skin is always associated with problems like excessive dryness, flakiness and tightness of the skin. However, you can still keep your skin beautiful by daily applying a generous amount of moisturizer. Also it’s always better for people having dry skin to avoid using soaps. Instead you can use gentle face wash once or twice a day.

 Oily Skin

People with oily skin face more problems compared to those having dry skin. Some of the problems faced by this skin type are excessive greasiness, enlarged pores ,occasional break outs, acnes and pimples. However, one advantage of having oily skin is that these people will be less prone to aging and wrinkling. People with oily skin are best advised to avoid oily foods, high carbohydrate content foods and aerated drinks.

The 3 Basic Skin Care Regimens to be followed in order to have gorgeous looking skin are:

1. Cleansing

This is the very first step to have a beautiful skin. All you need to do is find a good cleanser/ facewash which suit your skin type. However, be careful not to wash your face too often, say not more than thrice a day. Excessive washing can dry out your face and can do more harm to you. Use lukewarm water while washing, so as to loosen the dirt and open the pores. Apply a generous amount of face wash and massage gently for not more than two minutes. Then rinse off with cold water in order to close the open pores.

2. Toning

This is the second step which needs to be followed in this regimen. Once you are done with cleansing, you need to use a good toner or astringent to remove all traces of dirt, oil and make up from your face. You may apply the toner by using cotton pads. Toning can make you feel refreshed and can bring a natural glow to your face as it improves blood circulation. Rose water is a good toner.

3. Moisturizing

This is the final step to be included in your daily skin care regimen. Moisturizing is very important because it can help in keeping your skin hydrated, more supple, soft and youthful looking. All skin types whether it is normal, dry or oily, needs to be moisturized in the daytime and at night. People with oily skin can use oil free moisturizer. Read the label while choosing a good moisturizer that suits your skin type.

Apart from these 3 steps, you need to include in your diet, a lot of green vegetables and fruits which can give you all the necessary vitamins (A, C and E). Also make sure that you drink atleast 10-12 glasses of water daily.
