Donating blood is a very great help for mankind. Blood is greatly in need in the time of surgeries and crucial when it comes to accidents. So each and every one must donate blood as far as the can. It not only benefits the recipient but also benefits the donor. I would like to list out all the facts about donating blood.
o A person can donate up to half a liter of blood at a stretch. It will not cause any complication to the donor.
o Within two days of donating blood the blood will be produced again in the blood marrow. The amount that was donated will be got again in just two days.
o A person can donate blood only once in three months.
o Before getting blood from the person he will have to undertake a test to see if there are any unwanted toxins present.
o If the donor has consumed any liquor in high quantities he cannot donate blood. His blood will be full of that liquor. So he is restrained from donating blood.
o If the person is a regular consumer of substances like cocaine then the person is not eligible to donate blood.
o If the person had some long illness and if he is recovering he cannot donate blood for six months.
o Some people pierce tattoos. They must take a test to check if the tattoo has caused some harm to the blood.
o The people who have received blood for some reason must not donate blood for six months.
o It will take just five minutes to donate blood. The person has to take rest for ten minutes. Some people might feel giddy. They must lie down with head low and legs high for some time. This will reduce the giddiness and the person will come back to normal. They need not take any tablets. It will not cause any side effects.
o Person with A blood group can donate blood to A, AB groups.
o Person with B blood groups can donate blood to B, AB groups.
o Person with O blood group can donate blood to O, A, AB, B groups.
o Person with AB can only donate blood to AB group.
o People affected by syphilis, AIDS cannot donate blood to others.
o Person whose age is above 60 cannot donate blood.
o Person who wants to donate blood must have the hemoglobin level as above 80.
