Siddha - Traditional Medical System
The Siddha medicine is one of the ancient medical systems followed by people. In South India it is one of the very popular medical system. It is one of the part of trio medicines. The trio medicines are Ayurvedha, Sidda and the Unani. Siddha medicine is very, very popular in India. It is the traditional medical system. Have been using for years prior to 2500.
Siddhars are the great doctors as well as scientists in the ancient world. Siddha was introduced by the Siddhars. Siddhars who possessed eight super natural powers. In Tamil we normally called as Asta -Siddi. Asta - Eight Siddi -Super natural power.
Sage Agathiyar is the Guru for all Siddhars in the world. Indians believing that Siddha system is handed over to Sage Agathiya by God Muruga. Muruga who is the son of Lord- Shivan and the Goddess - Parvathi. So all the siddhars are the followers of Sage Agathiya. Agathiya is the first Siddhar in the ancient world.

Central Council for Research in Ayurvedha and Siddha(CCRAS)
CCRAS was estabilished in the year of 1978 by Ayush. Expansion of Ayush is Ayurveda, Yoga, Unanai, Siddha and Homeopathy. It is founded by the Government of India. It operates under the Ministery of Health and the Family Welfare, Government of India.
The Siddha Science is the very, very oldest traditional medicine system followed by Mankind. It was generated from Dravidan Culture. It was very, very flourished in the period of Indus Valley Civilization.The olden history says, Siddha system was described by Lord Shiva. Goddess Parvathy explore all the Siddha knowledge to her son Lord-Muruga. Then Lord Muruga thought everything to Sage Agathiya. This was the belief of Hindu people. Sage Agathiya taught about Siddha to his 18 disciple Siddhars, and they spread the knowledge to all the Mankind. Siddha is the word which is come from Siddi. Meaning of Siddi is heavenly bliss. The 18 important Siddhars are developed the Siddha Medicine. Paper is not available that days. So they used Palm Leaf Manuscripts for writing the books. Siddha medicine is one of the perfect medicine in the world.
Siddhars used to give leaves, flowers, fruits and the roots in the mixed basis to their practitioners. Siddha medicine is used to Vata, Pitta and the Kabha of our body. World Siddha day is celebrated 14th of April every year. First World Siddha day is started 14th of April, 2009. Siddha medicine is classified into three groups. The three groups are herbal products, inorganic substances and the third one is animal products. The drugs are usually classified using the five properties. The five properties are taste, character, potency, class and the final one is action. Two categories of siddha medicine are internal medicine and the external medicine.
