Winter Time is here and so is the festive season!

There is merry making all around and the nip in the air is making us all feel lucky to be cozy inside our blankets. December, undoubtedly is one of the most enjoyable seasons of the year! But what about your skin.... The winter definitely does not help much with that! This is why you should prepare yourself for the harsh winter winds so that you can look your prettiest when you bid the year adieu.

Following are some tips and tricks to follow to get the most perfect blush winter skin

  • Hydrate Your Skin : Drink plenty of water. Your skin needs to be hydrated at continuous intervals throughout the day. Carry around a small cute water bottle that can double up as a style statement while fulfilling the all important purpose of keeping you hydrated. Doctors say that a minimum of 8 glasses of water a day is essential for healthy skin and hair.
  • Exfoliate: Invest in a good scrub and exfoliator as it gets rid of all dead dry cells and rejuvenates your skin.
  • Use lukewarm and not warm water for baths and limit them to 5 to 10 minutes a day. This is because hot water strips the skin of its natural oils and thus results in dry, parched skin
  • Use a mild soap: Again this is reinforcing the fact that winters make our skin go dry and thus we should prevent that further. Harsh soaps or ones which are on extremes of the pH scale will again breach the skin of its moisture. Therefore use cream based soaps in winter.
  • Moisturize : The importance of a moisturizer can never be overstated in the winter season. Your moisture does not need to be expensive to be effective. Just look for rich texture and thick ointments and creams for the winter. Dimethicone and glycerine are important ingredients that can keep your skin hydrated. Use the moisturizer atleast twice a day for the best results.
  • Moisturize the air around you. This is an interesting one. Use plants with big leaves in the rooms where you spend the most amount of time. When you water the plants, the water moves into them and from them into the atmosphere. Thus watering the plants indirectly humidifies the air surrounding you and thus water is not taken out from your skin. Also, you can keep water in big bowls in the rooms you frequent so that the water evaporates and humidifies the surrounding air.
  • Use plenty of scarves, hats and gloves. They protect the areas directly in contact with the harsh winter skin and hence are essentials.
  • Dont pack away your sunscreens : One major mistake most people do is to think that there is no requirement of sunscreen in winters. Winter sun can be equally harsh and your skin needs protection against the UV rays.
  • Do not use Peels or Facial Masks that are clay based or alcohol based as they strip the skin of vital oils.

All these tips should make your skin rosy in the winters and keep you away from dull dry and itchy winter skin!!

Enjoy the Winters :)
