Headaches are one of the most common ailments that interfere with our day to day activities. They are like an unknown enemy who can attack us anytime, anywhere, and wreck havoc in our life. They can't be completely eradicated from our lives but there are ways to avoid them. Some of them are the following:

1. Avoid the use of painkillers

Whenever we are under an attack by headache, the first thing that comes to our mind is popping some painkillers, but it should be avoided. Painkillers contain caffeine or codeine which can cause severe damage to our internal organs with prolonged use.

2. Sit In A Straight Posture

When your head is pounding, don't be in a slump position because it can put pressure on the nerves in neck which increases your headache. Try to sit on a flat floor with your spine straight and looking ahead.

3. Eat Plenty Of Nuts And Seeds

Magnesium is the main mineral which is found in nuts and seeds. A reduced blood supply to the brain is the main cause of headaches. Magnesium helps in increasing the blood flow thus reducing the chances of headache. Apart from nuts and seeds, other good sources of magnesium are fresh green leafy vegetables, wholegrains, beans, peas, potatoes and oats.

4. Do not use Airfreshners

Air fresheners and strong-smelling lotions contain harmful chemicals that can trigger a headache. Use chemical free or natural air fresheners in your houshold.

5. Don't Put Pressure On Eyes

If you are in a profession which involves staring at a computer screen for too long or you are a die hard TV addict, then you are under the direct threat of an headache. This can be avoided by giving 1 minute rest to your eyes every half an hour.

6. Ponytail Or Headache

Surveys have proved that 93% of women suffer from headaches because of wearing a ponytail. The ponytail puts pressure on the connective tissue in the scalp, which ultimately results in a headache. Try to avoid pulling back yor hair as much as possible.

7. Drink Plenty Of Water

Whenever you have a headache, drink as much water as possible and within 10 minutes your headache will be relieved by the soothing effect of water.

8. Indulge in Lot's Of Sex

It is a proved fact that sex can relieve even the worst episodes of migraine. Indulging in sex produces a hormone called endorphins, which are body's natural painkillers. They can eliminate headaches in a matter of seconds.
