A museum is a house in which objects illustrating art, history and science are displayed. It is treasure house of culture as well as traditions of a country or a city. The following are some famous museums of the world.
1) Acropolic Museum: It is in the city of Athens, Green. It contains the artistic works of many ancient sites and shrines.
2) Louvre Museum: It is the national museum of art in Paris and one of the finest art collections in the world. It was built for Francis 1 in 1546.
3) Rijks Museum: It means ``state Museum’’. It is the national art gallery in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The present building was designed by Petrus Cuypers and erected in 1877- 85.
4) Picasso Museum: It is Barcelona, Spain. It was named after Pablo Picasso, on artist of Spain who was the dominating figure of the early 20th century art.
5) Tate Gallery: It is a London gallery housing England’s chief collection of British are modern foreign art. It was opened in 1897 as a branch of the national Gallery.
6) Push kin Museum of fine art: It is in Moscow. It is named after Alexander Sergyevich Push kin, a poet born in Moscow who is hailed in Russian as its greatest poet.
7) Uffizi Museum: It is a museum in Florence, Italy. It houses one of the world’s greatest collections of works by Italian masters.
8) National Gallery: It was on art gallery in London housing the largest collection of painting in Britain. It was opened in 1824.
9) National Gallery of Art: It is a gallery endowed by Andrew W. Mellon and opened in Washington DC in 1941.
10) National Gallery of Australia: It is an art gallery in Canberra, Australia, opened in 1982. It contains a permanent collection showing the history of Australian art including aboriginal are.
