The pet animal first comes to our mind is pet dogs.As they are more friendly in nature and has fast grasping power and capability of adapting to human interaction. They are considered to be more faithful than any other pet animal. Only domestic animal are kept as pets at home in practice. Other few domestic pet animals are cats, birds, fishes, turtles etc.

Adopting a Pet Dog

To own a dog as a pet first a person should be aware of breeds as there are so many best dogs in different breeds.A Man or Women who is planning to adopt a dog for the first time should be well planned. A person should consider several things such as,

Financial Position :

The Financial postion plays the most important in adopting a pet. A person should be willing to spend money to look after his or her pet needs such as food, vaccination, regular health checkups and health care etc.

Providing Space :

A person should make wise decision before selecting a breed for home as some dogs may require space. Those who are residing in small house or flat/appartment can choose small breed dogs which will be small in its size.

Spend Time :

Before adopting or buying a pet dog,  a person should decide how much time it is possible for him or her to spend with thier pet. Generally pets loves to spend more time with their owners. Some dogs might require more exercise such as walking and playing. It helps the dogs to grow healthly.

Feeding and Training :

For healthy living it is important to give suppliments like liver tonic, vitamin, calcium etc for pets. The vetenary doctors may prescirbe the medicines for the pets. The basic training should be given at home for their pets. Generally pets go for toilet as soon as after eating, it is advisiable to take them out so that it gets trained to that routine.

Types Of Indian Breeds

The are few Indian breeds found in India. When we talk about Indian breeds first comes to our mind is Stray dogs which are more commonly found in Indian streets. Other Indian breeds are caravan hound, chippiparai, combai,kani,Rampur Hound, Mudhol Hound, Rajapalayam, mostly found in southern India.

Chippiparai :

The Chippiparai is a very ferocious dog and is handled only by a single owner. It is generally not kept at home as a pet. These are intellignet in nature and are found in places like thanjore. These dogs can be seen in  fawn and white in colours and is 50 cms tall and prefer outdoors.

Caravan Hound :

Caravan hound is not attractive in its psychical appearance and colour. These dogs can be seen in different colours such as white, black , cream, fawn, red etc. Caravan hound is mostly liked by villagers as these dogs are less prone to diseases and has good stamina power. These dogs are appriciated to withstand weather conditions.

Rajapalayam :

Many people might be aware of Rajapalayam dogs. These dogs are well known as hunting dogs. Rajapalayam looks like a great dane and can be a good gaurd dog when proper tanining is provided to it. Rajapalayam is 65 cms in height  and weights around 25 kgs . The can be seen in usual colours.

Rampur Hound :

Rampur Hound posses clean and discplined habits . They may seem to be lazy .if requried it will charge immediately. Rampur Hound has very strong powerful jaws. They are very friendly dogs and can easily go well or adjudt with other pet animlas and dogs.

Mudhol Hound :

Mudhol Hound requires plenty of ventilation , space and exercise. These dogs are also known as hunting dogs and has very high temperment in nature. These dogs  might sometimes attack its master or owner with scissor bites.

Kanni :

Kanni is considered to be the most precious dog in south India especially in the places like, Madurai, Sivakasi, etc. The owners usually feed the dog with highly nutrious food such as, corn and ragi porridage , milk , meat etc.

 

Tips

At the time of adoption puppies should be vaccinated.

Remember a puppy should be eight weeks old or more at the time of adoption

Puppies should not be left alone.

Name your pet as it will  be easy for interaction

Treat your pet like child with love and care.
