The Media of the Modern Life
First of all let us know what is media? Means of communicating with people at large are called mass media. There are two types of media, Print media (Newspaper, magazine etc.) and electronic media (Radio, television etc.). Media have always been an inevitable part of every society.
Modern life refers to the life style which is quite different from ordinary life style. Modern life means something stylish which attracts others. Life styles of people have been much influenced by the spread of films, radio and television in those parts of the world where technology has greatly developed. Modernity does not mean just style in dresses or behavior, in-fact modernity means all round development. Both electronic and print media have brought a lot of changes in our life. Today there is such an advanced and widespread network of media that none can remain unaffected by it. Media have caused revolutionary changes in thinking of people. Now people are giving their conservative ideas. In comparison to earlier times now they are not much sticky to their olden days. Media have influenced manners, etiquettes, dressing sense and modes of life of people deeply. Media play a very initial role in educating, informing and entertaining people. Media keeps people informed of everything that happen anywhere in the world. Due to media social awareness is increasing in people. They are becoming more educated and aware therefore many social evils have perished. Media have also provided newer and smarter means of entertainment to the people.
Despite of development role of media in society, people are not free from the fear of misuse of media. They fear the abuse of the mass media as instruments of political and commercial persuasion. They also fear bad effects of T.V. on their children. But it has been proved by the facts that there is no need to be so apprehensive, for the effect of T.V. is not so deep. Neither these media are unilateral means of communication, it is a bilateral sharing, an exchange as well.
No doubt media have changed the whole scenario. Due to media there is a rapid change in every walk of life. Today whatever development we notice, it all is an effect of media. Exchange of ideas, culture and civilization inspire us for more development. Hence media and modern life are complimentary to each other.
