Do we really need this type of changes in our societies which will make India a liberal nation as the successors of Neocons say? They say India should be open. Is really India a closed society? We adopt all legal, modern, ethical and the tools and traditions which will help India in the future years to come. But still the supporters of Homosexual marriages say we are conservative. Do not you all think these type of parades should be banned by the Govt. Of India?
Living a democracy, we all have then freedom of choice. Sexuality falls under this ambit of choice. They have the right to practice their sexuality in open just as everyone has the fundamental right to practice their religion. Once their rights are acknowledged, there won’t be any need of gay rallies or stuff like this. But the precondition is their rights being acknowledged and the discrimination against them coming to an end.
I also think that if the Govt. acknowledges their right of homosexual marriages, then they may stop their agitation. But do not you think that whatever the govt. does it has some benefit for the nation? If say the govt. legalize it then what the nation will get from it. A heterosexual marriage results in a baby but this will result nothing.
Some sections of our society also demand Living relationship to be legalized. Then they will also follow demanding their rights. So this will go on.
If that type of marriage is permitted with a declaration and obligation on the part of the bride-bride/groom-groom, that they will have to adopt babies who are orphans then it will make their(the babies') futures lives bright. But this is also not possible.
If homosexual marriages are legalized then
In India where marriage is referred as to be one of the sacred rites almost compulsory for everyone, many of the brides/grooms would b saved from entering into a failed alliance with a homosexual partner.
I know a girl who found her husband was gay but still kept mum cause of family reputation.
It will be very good if homosexual couples are bound to adopt a child otherwise family planning should not be an obligation.
Legal or not it is a fact that our society will never accept such alliances and couples will b treated as outcastes.
