Do you know how many sections are there for a murder crime in India (IPC)? How to know about all justice details of Supreme Court or high court?
We do not have answers to these questions because these all information is known by the justice (Judge and lawyer) only. Not only this information, the information related to justice and law is cannot be understood by anyone. No one knows about the loops and sections so people depend and approach lawyers. The sections and laws are huge in number. So Indian government has tried to solve this problem to let people know about the changes in law and order. Finally they have launched a websites where we can know about the changes in law. That is indiacode.nic.in and judis.nic.in for judgment in court. Though we check these 2 websites, we may not get our desired information.
The person name shushanth from Jamshandpur tried to get the information from these websites which have been provided by the government. It took lot of time from those 2 websites to know simple information that is for which crime, what is the punishment. Though shushanth is a software engineer, but he could not get the information easily from these government sites. So he had launched a website which gives the information very easily and simply. That is indiakanoon.org on Jan 2008.

Shushanth has taken doctorate in internet security at university of Michigal. He joined in yahoo at Bangalore of India. He kept Supreme Court and high court judgments in India kanoon website. Then he has included all states, high court reports. While including law journals, he faced a problem, as law journals with digital photos and he should scan them and include. But he needs only information from it. But he could not separate the information from law journals, he thought of writing them in the website but the information is more in number of pages. So he took support of Google software, which helped him in extracting only information from those pages.
Started with 3 Lakhs:
Shushanth first planned to build a small website, but according to the people needs he kept lot of information in the website and finally, the website become huge with the information.
First he kept only 3 lakhs of documents, now that increased to 15 lakhs as he had prepared the website according to the people needs. We can search judgments in different ways at India kanoon. We can get our desired information about justice, judgment, laws and constitution very easily with in fraction of seconds.
We can get information about the judgment given for a particular person or by a particular justice or particular incident. We can even view the delayed judgments.
Finally Indiakannon website has become a search engine like Google. In google we get information on everything and in India kanoon we get the information about the justice and its updates.People are giving more suggestions about some alterations in the website to shushanth. So he is planning to make alterations according to the suggestions of the people and it take some time to implement them.
