A Tortoise which is alive for 30 Years without food
A place like a jail where you cannot move, darkness all over, no food to eat, no water to drink…. How many days one can survive in this situation? You may think that anyone can survive for some days in this situation. let’s see how a tortoise lived for 30 years in such situation.
Once upon a time there was a tortoise in a home. One day the members of the family found that the tortoise was missing. They searched all over but did not find it. All family members felt very disappointed. After 30 years, they cleaned a room in their house and found an old iron box. As that box was of no use to them, they threw it away. One day, someone told them that he had found a tortoise in the iron box which they had thrown. Very surprisingly they found that it was the tortoise which was missing 30 years back.
The incident took place in a house in Rio De Janeiro city of Brazil. This created sensation. The name of that tortoise is Manyula. The owner of this tortoise was Almida. This Tortoise was missing from the year 1982 and its owner expired after some years. After the death of Almida, his family members put all the unused materials in a room and locked. One day Almida’s son thought of cleaning that room. While disposing the unnecessary things of that room, they found their lost Tortoise Manyula. He remembers that he played with a Tortoise in his childhood. The tortoise was gifted to his sister by her friend. His sister recognized that tortoise.
Tortoise can live for many years. Recently we found that a tortoise named “Advaitha” was alive for 255 years in a Zoo at Kolkata. The Tortoise Manyula is the creature of desert area. It is called as “Red Footed Tortoise”, because its foot end will be red in color. It can survive without food and water for 2 to 3 years. In such situations they burn their fat and survive. Scientist says that “We hope that Manyula was eating small insects in that dark room, but being alive for 30 years in such situation is a wonder”.
