Management is a discipline. It comprises of a range of practices used in an organization. In all organization, the management practices are used for getting people together to accomplish desired goals and objectives. These practices enables identification, creation, representation, distribution and adoption of insights of experiences.

Healthy management practices are the steps for doing right things in a right way. The people who practise the discipline of management are called as managers. They are one of the basic components of management. A manager can be refferred to as the captain of a ship who first set the course for a destination and then steer the ship along the course. The word management itself means ' to manage' and managers are responsible for managing the people successfully to achieve business and execute business strategy.

For implementing healthy management practices in an organization, the manager plays a key role along with his subordinates and every employee of the organization. These practices are carried out in every organization in one or the other form, but they can be improvised for the success of an organization.

The various healthy management practices that can be implemented or improvised in an organization are:

Quality Circle:

In any organization, there are professionals and experts. In technical know how this is avery good aspect but for healthy management practices something more can be done. Change in subject, variety in work gives a recreation. This recreation sharpens the mental faculty. This will result in enhancing productivity. This can be done in following way:

Boss should choose a group of officers. He should arrange a group discussion on a totally different subject. the participants will enjoy a healthy discussion and this will help them in upgrading their general know how. This united effort will bring smile on the face of workers, hands will be sharpened and output will be more.

For example: after the central budget, the boss gets a group of officers together and arranges a discussion on the special features of budget. Participant's new perspectives on some aspects of the budget will benefit the collegues and enlighten the boss. Reading newspaper articles, watching television programmes can also add to their knowledge of budget. This is an example of how participating in discussions on subjects of mutual interest can increase knowledge and develop fellow feelings.

Treating subordinates:

A subordinate respects his boss out of fear and as far as equals are concerned, he cannot afford to invite their displeasure and anger. But the true test of a succesful leader or boss is the way he gets along with his teammates, the way he treats his subordinates. Needless to say, his friendly relation with his teammates ensures a high overall output. His ultimate aim willbe twofold:

1) To reduce the gap that often separates him from his subordinates.

2) To establish and maintain his own identity simultaneously.

A healthy combination of persuasion and coercion of tenderness and force will earn him the subordinate's respect. What more a boss wants?

Avoid undrestimating other people:

Generally an executive tries to impress his clients, subordinate etc. He perhaps feels that by doing so he scores a point over them. But the fact of the matter is that exactly the opposite happens. An executive should never forget that the others have not approached him to seek information about his personal life. What is the use if an executive tells his client that , " I have scored 98% in university, I was a topper, I have studied though I was poor etc? " Will it have any effect on the client? May be some of the persons calling upon him are superior to him. In any case, he should neither overestimate himself nor underestimate the others. Of course, it does not mean that he should be proffessional and timid. He must understand the hair splitting difference between winning a discussion and securing optimum performances from his employees.

100 more than 100:

Any organization will have structure, system of wages, and very little room for improvement. But executive to his subtle style of expression, can try to achieve the aspect of 100 more than 100. This can be achieved by slightly changing the thought process.

For example: If salary is less but there is conveyance facility. Is it not saving the money and the discomfort associated with a local transport systrm? Will it not increase a sum more than a given sum? Mini organization provides susidized, can't the boss cash in on this? The boss should try to focus these images in the mind of the collegues. By introducing certain innovations into traditional company setup where there is hardly any room for improvement. A forward looking executive can raise levels of production, improve employee-employer relationship and increase worker's salary. By providding conveyance facility and subsidized lunch to low paid employees, an executive can work wonders, perform miracles. The workers set the actual benefits fo these new welfare measures and the comapany cashes it on the cooperation extended by satisfied employees. Let us remember that those families will never become happy who attempt to convert a drawing room into the courtroom and a kitchen into canteen.

Equality, suitability,or speciality:

As per the name of the company, there are specific qualifiactions required while making appointments. This is a normal practice. The boss in order to extract a particular employee, passes amongst the equal group preferred to assign a particular job, thus suitability factor arises. Equality factor arises at the time of recruitment. After some experience, speciality factor develops. However a prudent boss should also pay some attention to the exploration of hidden potentiality of the worker and should assign special job. This of course is trial method but worth experimenting with. A good management depends on good observation, good connectivity and extracting best of best. This practise shall give extraordinary confidence to a worker and thus profitability of the company will increase.

Town Hall meet concept:

Most of the organization do conduct periodical meeting with the employees. the agenda is circulated and delibration takes place. This is a normal practice. A successful manager should also attempt to circulate anchor points of the meeting. Can we do something new? Workers productivity has got many bearings, his family atmosphere etc. in fact the greatest motivator for the employees stays at home. Can a good company sometimes conduct, on selective basis, meet of employees and their family members? In such a meet the members of the family may be told a general know how of the company and the importance of the worker, the way profitability can be increased and so on. Thus the field of cooperation will be enhanced. The family will come to know how important his son/husband is. This can be called as an extended cooperative movement. A worker is important in the factory. he stays for a limited hours in the factory, rest of the hours he is in the family. If directly or indirectly we can bring the family members in the stream of company's profile, will it not give shining result? this meeting should be held once in a year, the purpose of which should be held once in a year, the purpose of which should be fraternity development.
