Everyday, Jack wakes up in the morning to get ready for his school-bus. But Jack does not show any gusto for his studies. Being a poor student of his class he does not feel any shame. Instead of waiting for his school bus, he flees to his friend's house where both of them play online games recklessly. Day by day his interest in the studies is lacking behind. This indulgence has made his father heart-sick. He is worried for his son's future.

Earlier when Jack was a child, he was very good in his studies. He used to score good marks and his rank was always under 10. But as he grew older, his friend circle extended and he started getting deviated towards his fellow friends rather than focusing  on education. Recently, his father has got promotion in his office as a Managing Director. Now he has to devote more time in official work. Being a director means head of his entire colleague working in the office. Earlier his father managed to get time for his son and used to teach him well. Whilst he was just a colleague it had not been so difficult to keep an eye on Jack. But now it seems to be quite vexed to do so. He comes late from his office. Day by day Jack is losing concentration in his subjects.

Regular absenting has cost him to lose too many classes and his attendance has fallen below 50%. He does not feel shy in doing so. His friends have abbreviated his mind to think for what they do themselves. Gaming as you all know has become a great medium of pastime. Unlikely physical games, these are made to be played on PCs and Laptops. Jack spends a lot of time in playing online games with his friends. They all have Internet facility connected to their PCs. As heir are job holders, they cannot be present every time to look what their child is doing.

With the time, their final exams have come forth. Jack and his friends have started feeling nervous. All round the year they read nothing and when the exams are near, they are trying to gain as much knowledge as they could but all in vein. After all, “Rome was not built in a day”. Finally, his exams arrived. He is ready to give his exam with an empty mind.

We all know what will be the result of such students. Eventually, they will score poor marks and stroll out with pout expression. They will keep conducing friends for their failure but will never accept that it has happened because of their own misdeeds. Moreover, they do not want to meliorate their mistakes.

Day before yesterday, I came with another situation. It was quite different from the first one. A boy of 14-15 years of age was waiting for his school bus. While I was jogging on nonmetallic road I saw him sitting under a tree-shade. If he would have been just sitting there with an empty handed I would not have talked to him. But he was having a touch screen mobile in his hand and he was peddling with it. He must be playing games or searching something on the web. I went to him and suggested not to dawdle his time with mobile. Being a student you must be sensible. On listening this, he kept the cell in the pocket and fled from there. However, I knew in my heart that a student who has made his habit of bringing mobile everyday cannot disaccustom himself easily on someone's suggestion.

There are many other examples by which addiction of games and similar discommodes can be seen rifted over teenagers. It has become a fashion to carry earphones inserted your ears and listening songs while walking. From a recent survey on Internet surfing it has been found that more than 40% of youth under 25 years of age are engaged in playing online games. About 30-35% of them waste their time in downloading movies, new songs and various pictures. About 20% of teenagers are seen to be searching on uncommon topics while 10% of them are engaged in finding information on good topics.

It doesn't take much time for the new apps to become widely popular. Apps for mobile, OS, tablets need some basic requirements to work properly. In order to work, your accessory must be of good company having Internet facility, camera shooting and video recording, mp3 and mp4 players and most important Java installed. Any teenager who wants to download an app has to first meet these requirements. For this he will go and buy a costlier handset. Once he has bought it, he shall try to run those apps on it. Practically, he is now having a handset and his desire will increase for other things as well which are present on the web. He will try to view them. Eventually, his downfall will begin as it will become his daily habit.

This is how the circumstances are taking place in the real world. The situation and the needs of today's children are not different. Teenagers don't understand what they are doing. They do not want to hear their parent's advice. They give importance to their friends, technology and trends disregarding their own parents. The new technology abets them to access time-wasting social apps. If a boy is sitting in front of computer and by chance you dictated or suppose told him in distress not to falter from computer for 4 hours, he shall follow your advice for more than 4 hours sitting right in front of PC. The new games do not require any introduction. We may not know how to play certain game but they know it well. Just ask them the names of some mission games. You shall get the answers very quickly in fraction of seconds. There are such games also which takes around two to three hours to complete one mission. Many racing games like NFS Most Wanted and Hot Pursuits have been designed in such a way that you will not able to win the tracks easily. And if you are showing gusto for the game, then you eyes will not leave the screen until you beat the racers and win the game. These games have multi-player option to play online with friends. Once again the user has got a chance to connect with the Internet and get his habit implanted. These games are making the youngsters crazy. They feel playing games electronically better than playing games physically.

Youngsters need inspiration rather than objurgating. They need to eke out their faults. “Time once lost is lost forever”. This is your career building age. You begin to chase your success. Foremost option of a student must be education. Concentration and dedication is the more momentous than any other task to be perpetrated in this age. Competition has also increased with the population. Over 20 lacs students appear for different entrance examinations per annum in India. A boisterous student of clear thoughts and hardworking is likely to crack such exams but how will a soft-head boy or girl be able to crack the same.

Parents must encourage their child, motivate them. They should make them realize about the present competition and fight for jobs. “Addiction of books” is far better than the “addiction of Internet and gaming”. A boy like Jack is likely to be left out of the chaos. Everything is right on its place but utilizing it properly is a great deal.
