Dress made

Externally our body is protected by wearing clothes. They protect us against cold, dust, heat, rain and insect bites. We look smart by wearing good clothes. Hence, we love to wear clothes of latest fashion.

Leaves of trees or animal skin were used olden days by early man for covering and protecting his body. Man started wearing clothes when he learnt how to make it.

We should wear comfortable clothes which are according to weather conditions. In hot weather, we wear cotton clothes because such clothes allow air to pass through. Sweat is also absorbed by such clothes. In hot weather, always wear loose fitting clothes. Cotton clothes lose heat.

Clothes, made of wool and fur, are used in winter season. They maintain body heat and make us feel warm.

During rainy season, we protect our clothes by wearing rain coats over them. Water is not absorbed by rain coats. So, clothes are protected from getting wet by wearing rain coats.

What are made clothes made of?

We get cotton from cotton plant. Cotton fibers are made from cotton balls, obtained from cotton plants. We get cotton cloth by weaving these fibers. We also get fibers from animals also. Silk is obtained from silk warm. Sheep gives us wool for woolen clothes. The fibers, we get from nature, are called natural fibers like cotton, wool and silk.

Nylon, terry cotton, terry wool and polyester are man made fibers. We do not get them from plants or animals. So they are called synthetic fibers.

Clothes for work

  • The doctor and nurses should wear neat and clean clothes because they have to look after sick people. They wear white clothes because dirt can be easily seen on them.
  • Soldiers perform difficult work. So they wear uniform made of tough fibers.
  • A factory worker has to work with heavy machinery. So his dress is made of one cloth from neck to feet. It prevents any part of his dress strucking into machine.
  • School dress indicates which school student belong to. The teachers and other staff can easily know that he is studying in their school and take care of him.

Cloth caring

  • If proper care of clothes is taken, they will last long. It makes you look smart.
  • Use good detergent and water for washing clothes made of cotton, nylon and polyester.
  • Avoid the use of detergent for washing silk and woolen clothes. Cleaning them with petrol is the best way. This is called dry cleaning.
  • When you are not wearing silk or woolen clothes, store them properly because be used for storing these clothes.
