History of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was great social worker.
Leader to the poor- 
Bhimra Ramoji Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1893. The young Ambedkar had to face all the indignities suffered by the rest of the members of his socially suppressed class. The then ruler of Baroda was highly impressed with his talent and helped him a travel to the USA for higher studies. In America, he did his M.A. in 1915 and PhD. in 1916. In 1925, he setup his legal practice at the Bombay high court.
He was deeply worried at the miserable living conditions and the lack of education among the socially backward class. Most of these people never thought of breaking with the past and fighting for their rights. They were poor and socially very weak and not treated as part of society and lacked self confidence. They felt resigned to their fate.
Dr. Ambedkar being a highly educated person with a soul liberated by modern ideals was determination that the ideal of universal equality of man should be realized in India also. All people irrespective of their caste, race or religion are perfectly equal. Without this equality freedom had no meaning.
So he decided to awaken the poor and inculcate a spirit of courage in them and arouse them to fight for their rights. He attended the round table conference in London to represent the depressed classes.
Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru were greatly attracted by his great fighting spirit and his great scholarship. He was invited to be the chairman of the constitution drafting committee. In recognition of his great scholarship he was made the law minster in Government.
Dr. Ambedkar made an invaluable contribution to the making of modern India and his life will continue to be a source of inspiration to all. He was lovingly called ``Baba Saheb’’. The nation conferred the highest civilian honor ``Bharat Ratna’’ on him on his 99 the birthday. He passed away on December 6, 1956.
