There are lot of wealthy people. Wealth is acquired by a person in various ways, it could be ancestral.  It could have been made with lot of hard work and toil and it could have been attained through illegal means.  Whichever way it is made the most important point that the person is rich.

In general lot of wealthy do a lot of charity.  Some of the reasons for their doing charity are:-

1) Looking back at their past:- They themselves would have been in a situation wherein they had to work hard to become wealthy.  Therefore they realize the problems faced by the poor and want to help them.

2) Kind Nature:- Basically there are also wealthy people who are kind hearted by nature.  Whether it is hard earned wealth or ancestral they get lot of happiness and satisfaction in helping the needy.

3) Social Compulsions:- There are certain social compulsions due to which a wealthy person has to distribute some money as donationsfor charitable organizations.  The wealthy person could be a member of club who generally collect charity from its members.  It could be that some that some organizations approach these people which they cannot refuse.  It could also be that for the sake of publicity and to be in the good books of people they like to contribute.  They normally contribute to such organizations where their names get advertised with the amount of money they offered as donations.

Is the Wealth Reaching the Right Person

If a wealthy person has real intention of helping needy, then donating to a charitable organization does not serve its purpose.  More often than not, only a very small percentage of money collected on behalf of needy, actually reaches the needy.  In this situation it becomes very important for a person who intends to do charity to make an effort to identify people who actually need it and then make arrangements to had over the money directly to them.  If that is not possible due to constraints of time, a person can set up a charitable wing in his organization make arrangements to ensure that people in need of money come to his organization and that money is personally handed over to them.

My appeal to all wealthy people, merely donations are not good enough.  Please ensure that it reaches the needy
