At first glance, the Bible is an ordinary book with a beginning, an end and the pages in between. But as soon as you discover, it is clear that the Bible is unlike any other books. This is because the Bible is not one book but many books - 66 in total.

More than library book
'Bible' is actually Greek and means book. We also know from the word 'library', which is a collection of books. And the Bible is actually a book full of books, 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament. A whole library can be said, written down over a period of 7-800 years, from approx. 700 BC to 120 AD This means that the oldest parts of the Bible is almost 3000 years old.

An old book is also contemporary
And it's the other thing that makes the Bible for an unusual book. For although the Bible that way is an old book, so it is also a contemporary book. It has been for too many years ago and therefore tells about people many years ago. But while it tells also about people today.

The Bible tells namely the basic fact that you as a person living below the all time: Life and death, joy and sorrow, evil luck, doubt and faith, hatred and forgiveness, jealousy and love. That way, people of all times reflected in the Bible and its people. And perhaps become wiser about himself and his own life.

The same applies to what the Bible says about God. Also it's important for people of all times - then, today and tomorrow - the Bible says.

A book - two languages
One last unusual thing about the Bible is that it is written in two different languages. The Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew and New Testament were written in Greek. So one book in two languages.

But even though the Bible is thus an unusual book, it also has as ordinary books a beginning, an end and something in between. You can read more about here.
